Nice atmosphere, unappetizing food.
Yes, this place is expensive and "snobby" But you have to know what your getting yourself into before you go. As for food however, I was not expecting it to be as disappointing as it was. The tuna in the salad nicoise was not fresh and there was so much dressing that I could not taste anything else. The (4) raviolis were comparable to a frozen entree in trader joe's. The Atlantic Halibut had an aweful fishy taste and was not prepared well. Also, none of the sides were even worth mentioning. On a good note, the service was very good. The wait staff was attentive and we were seating very quickly. Also, the cocktails were delicious. Go to this place for the atmosphere and drinks, but i doubt you will be returning for a second visit.

Unfriendly at best.
As somewhat of a snob myself (and upper east sider)I do agree with anonymous on 9/24/11 that Crown looks like the typical "snobby upper east side restaurant". However I totally disagree with the rest of his/her assessment. The place is UNFRIENDLY, the service is poor, and the food is not what I or my guests enjoyed at all, and in fact disliked it. As far as value is concerned, there is none. My friends and I would definitely NOT go back there again.

It's been quite some time.....
Since I've had such a disappointing dinner, on all levels; food, service and attitude all need a readjustment. When we asked the waiter what he did not like on the menu, he said only the customers. The kitchen does not allow for any changes, no sharing for example. When we asked to share one dish we were told we could have an extra plate and divide the food ourselves. So if you are like us and like to try new restaurants, get there quickly because my best guess is that it will not be around for long, and sorry to say it will not be missed.

Worth the money!
Just by looks, you might assume Crown will be just another snobby upper east side restaurant. However the service is wonderful, the wait staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is out of this world! It's expensive, but it is worth every penny.
