I don't know what that unhappy review is talking about. I've been going to CRT for over a year and always have a good time, always get great food, and always get great service. I recommend the steaks....as good as any steak house and veggies and potato come with! As soon as you walk in there is a comfortable feeling. The staff is always super, not a stuffy, I hate my job place....the servers laugh, smile, say hello... they enjoy the work and rave about the food....good management! A must if in midtown

Listen, this if for everyone who has the misfortune to read the review immediately below this one. Don't let this guy fool you - this place is something else. I've NEVER been disappointed. I work right across the street and I eat at the venerable old CRT at least once every two weeks. I've had many successful business lunches here, and I can tell you that clients love the outstanding cuisine and friendly service. Seals the deal every time. I highly recommend the crabcakes. And as far as those chick-pea fries go, well, at my firm they're legendary. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Don't make reservations two weeks in advance or anything - I mean, where are you from? Des Moines? - but definitely drop in when you want a casual spot with great dishes.

I had read so many good things about this place but was completely disappointed. Despite booking a couple of weeks in advance the host didn't even appear to have our reservation. I had the lollipop prawns to start, all I can say is greasy and very bland, made even more unappetizing by the plum sauce, more like plum jelly. My partner had tasteless shrimp and we both had the toughest Steak Frites, supposedly medium rare, I don't think so! The vegetables, presumably meant to be al dente were actually raw and cold, the chick pea fries left a lot to be desired. The service was poor, they didn't even clear our table between courses. The only thing this place has going for it is the water, at least they can't go too far wrong with that!

The food is amazing at this establishment. I reccomend the Tuna Entree. It comes with "forbidden black rice"-- Let me tell you! It's to die for! It really should be "forbidden"! Everyone should really check this place out. The waitresses are super hot and helpful!! The Maytag Salad is delicioso!! 5 STARS!
