I lived in D.C. and was obsessed with this small Italian restaurant there. I have lived in NY for years and for some reason have not been able to find a place that even remotely compares to it. Until now!!! The food at Crispo is delicious, the drinks are heavenly and the service was great. I went there and sat in the "garden," for my one year anniversary and it was quiet and romantic. The atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend this place!!

So I've been here twice now, and I have to say both of my experiences have been excellent. First time I went I had a boratta appetizer with toasted bread that was fabulous, the cheese was amazing. The second time I had the cauliflower and pine nuts app. - also great. Both times I had meat dishes, the beef and the pork. Both dishes were slow roasted, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and accompanied with wonderful other flavors that really made the dishes great. And at $23 for a big piece of meat in Manhattan, how can you go wrong? Speaking of not going wrong, why is it that so few reviewers talk about the quality and value on the wine list? Hello!? It's amazing. The first time I went we had a bottle of Caymus (yum) for $97 - compared to the $160 I paid for the same bottle just weeks later. The second time was a special occasion, so we upgraded to the Caymus Special Selection at $155. I can't even buy that bottle of wine in a liquor store that cheap! I wish more restaurants would take this approach - it keeps me going back. So with great food, and an amazingly valued wine list this place is a must. Don't expect uber fancy (no white linens) but the rooms are very well put together and the service is attentive.

I went here on Valentines Day, so we made sure to arrive early so we would be seated promptly. After a 30+ minute wait at the bar, we were finally seated. After this mini debacle, I was expecting subpar service, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very attentive and all of our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The food was very good and was a good value for what you received (we were extremely full and ended up taking our dessert home). The only thing I would suggest to guests of Crispo is to make sure that you are not seated in the bar area of the restaurant. People who were waiting for tables were bumping into the diners' chairs and it was very loud in that area. Other than that, it was a great time and I would (and will) definitely go back!

Too large of a restaurant, not great value and the food was only average. Quaint decor though

We arrived for our Sat night 9pm reservation for 4 to a crowded mess. At 940pm we were shown to the available bar room tableright next to where we had been standing having drinks at the bar which had been open since our arrival. We questioned this table and minutes later, with no apology or explanation, were seated at a able in the back dining room. The manager stated he would check in on us later but was a no show. While most restaurants will apologize for any inconvenience and attempt to appease their customers, Crispo decided to offend. (which now that I have read other reviews, it seems like a re-occuring theme any time the manager needs to get involved) The food was good, but not worth the attitude to go back. I would prefer to give my money to owners/managers that make you feel welcome and want you to have enjoyable dining experience. I only hope the owners realize that crappy managers can ruin a promising restaurant.

Solid, quality food for a reasonable price for NYC. Pasta was great and I will go back.

Teh staff was very helpful, attentive and pleasant. Everything we ordered tasted great and the meal was not expensive for what we got. The room may be a tad loud, btu that didn;t bother us. Can't wait to go back.
