I went to Crispo for dinner recently and it was awesome. The creamy polenta appetizer is out of this world, and I had the bolognese special which was also great. The pastas were very fresh. I thought the service was good and that the meal was very reasonably priced.

I've been to Crispo three times now and have never been disappointed with the food. I've ordered main course specials twice and the hangar steak standby---everything is tasty, fresh, and authentically Italian (as opposed to most of the Italian-American pretenders in the city). The service is good, not amazing, but fast and friendly enough. The setting is just right, perfect for a night with friends or a first date. The pasta is not a good value, but the meat dishes are comparatively cheap. (both pasta and meat cost around $17--you do the math). The not-so-reasonable wine selections can quickly balloon your tab, so be careful about what you order. A good bet is to go with four people, each order a main meat course and share a lower-priced bottle of wine (~$40)---your total tab will be around $140-$150 and you'll be quite satisfied.

One of the best italian restaurants in the city. Perfect date restaurant or to go with another couple.

That pretty much sums up my experience at Crispo. I like to try new and different things, but when in a pinch and you cannot decide on where to go; Crispo is definitely the spot. The food is delicious and with daily specials there is always something new and exciting to try. I LOVE their take on ham and cheese.

Excellent food in perfect portions, great wine, friendly, quick and tactful service, subtle but lovely decor...I can't say enough for this beautifully candle-lit, dreamy restaurant. The din was just right, the courtyard cozy, and the meal leisurely and delectable. Ahhh. Probably suitable for all occasions but prime on a spring night with a healthy appetite, full wallet and great company.

I've been to Crispo three times now, and each time the food does not dissappoint. The meat and cheese plates are fantastic as well as the pasta entrees. I love the truffle oil pasta and would go back again and again just to have that one dish. My only problem would be that the salads are a bit boring, but overall the food is wonderful and very reasonably priced for a NYC restaurant.

We had a few problems during our first visit and after complaining to the management (reviewed 2 Sundays ago here after a Saturday night experience), we were invited back to try again. The second time, the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and it was probably one of our best restaurant experiences ever. The place is extremely popular so there's no reason that they had to call us to apologize, except they do care about their customers. We were very happy the second time around.
