The Best Kept Secret in NY

I went to NY to visit w/friends and do some touring of the East Village. Hunger time hit and we found ourselves in Crif Dogs. What a hoot! The menu is awesome, service very accommodating and the owners, Kerry and Brian were extremely gracious and low key. It's a fun place to people watch and experience seeing a famous face here and there. A Pierce Brosnan movie was being shot across the street at the time, so we had the whole enchalada. Our choices varied and we shared with one another - highly recommended to do so. I'm hoping Kerry and Brian will expand to a larger venue.

    Crif's in the Dog House

We go to tons of EV joints for eats and this has got to be the worst. One of the guys there was a jerk to my friend when he asked him a question about what was on one of the things on the menu. My friend got a veggie dog and it was gross-cold in the middle and just kind of blah-tasting. I got a corn dog and it was the kind that had been frozen for a hundred years. When we were sitting eating we noticed how dirty the place is-they need to wash the floor! On top of it, the place attracts loud drunk people looking for cheap eats. I'm sure there will be plenty of posts from drunk people who just remember that they had a hot dog and wouldn't know if it was good or not!

    Eat them!

I had the opportunity to eat here twice in the same weekend. They're open late. Although the corn dogs take a while, the staff was very pleasent. I haven't had a veggie dog I loved so much before. The atmosphere is cute--you can play video games or watch movies on their two flat-screen tv's while you wait or eat. When you're drunk and fiending for a bite on the Lower East side, this place is the best!
