Loved it
We had a family get-together - my daughter (a New Yorker who selected Craftbar) and my 3 brothers and I. The food was fabulous, the service attentive but not hovering, and the ambience pleasant. I loved the menu of snacks and small plates - my favorite way to eat. Others had dinners. I had crispy artichoke, pecorno risotto balls and fonduta with pine nuts. I lingered over every bite, enjoying all the flavor nuances. I have 2 small complaints - the music was a bit loud (but not unbearable like in some other restaurants) and the wine list was on the pricey side. Highly recommended

Don't believe the "haters"
The food was great, service couldn't be better- a little pricey and noisy, but worth it and an overall positive experience- try the short ribs with egg topper- loved it!-- also pork special was excellent

Very good neighborhood restaurant
Every time I go here the food and service is very good. It's very nice to have a friendly neighborhood restaurant.

Just Will Never Be What it Was
I used to go into Craftbar about twice a month (when I wasn't cooking in my restaurant here in the city). I started going a few years ago. The servers were almost always right on, not to mention just nice people and they had two female managers usually rocking the place and so friendly! The food was good and consistent. Now the staff is blah, management is rude, and the food is just food, nothing special. I can say I don't remember ever writing a review online in this forum before. Such a shame to see something once really good crumbling.

I ignored other reviewers
What a mistake. Although the problems I had with Craftbar are not the same as the few bad reviews I ignored, they are all symptoms of a larger problem. Take a name chef, wrap it in a trendy area, charge high prices and they will come. Do your homework and if you get fooled once, shame on them, but get fooled the second time and shame on you.

Salty
The frittata and corned beef hash tasted like it was sauteed in rock salt infused olive oil! I had to temper my unexpected salt intake with a margarita (without salt!)

Why so salty?
Salty, salty. Is there really a need to add salt to buccatini, which already has pancetta and clams? Someone else at my table had the dish and agreed. Other plates on the table - strip steak was salty, meatballs not much flavor, other pasta dish with sweet corn was flavorless (just cooked in some butter).
