Chicken Fried Steak
I visited to try the chicken fried steak. Very disappointing. They actually used too nice of cut of beef. It was marbled with fat, too thick and almost juicy, totally lacking an authentic lean jerky-like texture so demanding of gravy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were bland.

Cowgirl is sexy
I love the food at cowgirl. It is soooo good. The staff and owners are the nicest and the atmosphere is to die for. I eat there all the time and is so great. I love just spending time at cowgirl eating good food and spending time with nice waiters and a great place.

Yummee
I've been to Cowgirl Three times now. The first was for a my birthday dinner of 15 people, they sat us in a timely fashion, the service was great, the food and portions were wonderful, and they added to the birthday celebration. I have since brought my mom back and she loved it, and then a double date. Fantastic place, good food, reasonable prices for the amount of food you get, and fun environment. What more could you ask for in a restaurant?!

Loved it
This place was recommended by the house manager at the MCC theater on Christopher Street. We asked him for a recommendation after we saw the play "Fat Pig" there. This place was great. It was a fun atmosphere and looked like a lot of locals go there. Our waiter was fun. I had the blood orange margarita which was excellent and I think that's supposed to be something the restaurant is known for. Also, the complimentary chips and black eyed pea salsa was very good. I had the cheese enchilada's and my friend had the hamburger and both were huge servings. The quality of the food was also very good. We had a pretty quick meal well under an hour. I highly recommend this cute, quirky little place.

Cute place but wouldn't go back
I'm from the south and came here hoping for a healthy dose of home cooking. Was disappointed (that's putting it lightly) with the chicken fried steak. The cut of meat was not good. The cream gravy was good but all the gravy in the world couldn't save the meal. However, the collard greens were absolutely amazing. If I ever get to craving collard greens I might give this place another try, but I'll search for the perfect chicken fried steak elsewhere.

Hi-ho silver, away
This place has it all--great atmosphere (all the fun of a kitschy spot without ever feeling touristy), amazingly yummy food that I crave all the time, margaritas with good tequila and fresh juice, and great music (we used to hate country and western before we came here.) The crowd is a good mix of every imaginable West Village.

Fun place, friendly staff
A good place to start or finish a date walking around the village. My wife and I are empty nesters getting reacquainted and lunch here was like dating again after 30 years of marrage. Try it you'll like it!
