authentic italian
this is NOT a red-sauce and chicken parm italian take-out place, even they serve those things. The difference with cotta bene, and I hesitate to leave a good review because I don't want it too popular, is that somebody in the kitchen clearly knows what they are doing. The pasta is perfectly al dente - I had an AMAZING shrimp fra diavolo - a deceptively difficult dish, that was exquisite. Delivered. The shrimp was fresh, not frozen, perfectly cooked (not rubbery at all) and the portions are HUGE. oh and their pizza is ridiculously good, not to mention the parmesan fries. I hope this place sticks around, it is a new favorite, and you should try it. the only reason it gets a 3 for atmosphere is, well, I haven't actually been there in person.

Great eggplant and shrimp hero
The sandwiches were delicious. The eggplant was seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of tomato sauce. The shrimp was tender and delicious. The staff actually called me by name on the phone before he hung up. I was totally impressed. Polite and with good customer service. Would definitely recommend to anyone, and will definitely eat there again!

great pizza, great vibe
Love this place. Pizza is some of the best I've had in NY. I chatted up the pizza chef the other day (really freindly by the way) and turns out he went to culinary schoolin Milan. This might be the reason that the specialty pizzas there are great, and the regular cheese slice is fantastic! I personally also love the laid back, nieghbor-friendly atmosphere of the place. Great addition to the area!
