unfortunately the food was just too oily and overly salted/ seasoned at those prices the ingredients should stand out - i'm sure they started out very good the service was outstanding.

Basically went here to get the Costata steak which is a 44OZ tomahawk ribeye. It looks just like it does on the website - however it did not taste like you would want it to. There was literally no flavor to the meat. If you got a full piece, and dragged it along the bottom of the serving dish to pick up all the oil and au jus then it was a little bit better, but still for $128 steak you should not have to put salt and pepper on it yourself in order to have it not be bland. The appetizers however were a different story - GREAT appetizers including: BONE MARROW PANZANELLA... 17 SEA SCALLOP celery root, black truffle vinaigrette MARE... 21 warm salad of octopus, calamari, shrimp, scallops, olives, lemon However due to the dissapointment of the steak, I would not recommend getting it if you do decide to go here.

I was also there on Father's Day. Food was excellent. Service left a lot to be desired. Had to ask for bread to be served. Table was never cleaned after finishing the main course. An expensive glass of wine was knocked over accidentally by one of the staff. That incident broke the camels back at which time we complained about the poor service to one of the staff. She did offer at the time to remove the corkage charge as well the the charge for cocktails. I'm sure the service issues will be corrected and the restaurant will then be up to the standards of his other restaurants. Will definitely try again

I just came home from a wonderful Father's Day experience at Costata and I must say, all the hype surrounding this restaurant is deserved and then some. The appetizers I tasted were among the best I've have had especially the soft shell crab and lobster salads. The pastas were perfectly prepared. The steaks came out as we ordered them with the Tomahawk Rib Eye living up to early press release. The sides were excellent as well and even as dish as simple as polenta was prepared beautifully. The desserts were divine and Mr. White, who chatted with us several times, bought is the tirimisu at the end. A minor quibble would be the greenness of the service as twice dishes meant for other tables wound up at ours. But in time I have no doubt that will be ironed out. For a restaurant that's been only open for about a month, I strongly feel that Costata is already a special place and in time will take its place as one of NY's great dining destinations.

Michael White does it again. Went there Saturday night. The Caesar salad was fabulous. The steak & vegetables were delicious. The wine & dessert were the best. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was beautiful. We loved it.
