SO affordable and great healthier choices
The pros:lots of fresh choices that can be adapted for healthier eating with no hassles, love seeing the bread being made in front of us and it looked like great fun to do the tableside smores! Would be a cute date idea! Super affordable in the center of NYC and a great streetside view. The cons: Super slow service, a scattered waiter who took about 30 min to even get our drinks and then half of our order was delivered wrong...a melted sandwich served ice cold, salad without dressing on the side, late items, no silverware....so if youre impatient, maybe not the place for you. We stuck it out with our waiter and he appreciated it and gave us free brownies which appeased the adults. The kdis meals are huge for kids...a sandwich or pizza, chips OR carrots OR fruit, a drink and a huge fresh chocolate chip cookie for $5! We fed 6 people, took home an extra salad AND latte and paid under $80 including drinks, tax and tip! Unheard of in Manhattan, especially the theater district...highly recommended despite service situation.

So good
The food here is amazing, I crave it when I leave. It's pretty cheap by NY standards, I'd say and you get enough food to fill you up. My only complaint would be the service. Sometimes it's good and sometimes you're just sitting and waiting and no one bothers to check on you or give you your bill. Go for the bread!

I'm obsessed with this place
After eating at Cosi a few times its all I can think about. The T.B.M. Melt and the Polpette Rustica (meatball sandwich) are well worth dreaming about. If you're not sure, walk in and go stand by the bread oven - wait for the scraps of hot bread (free) and grab one.

Excellent Salads & Sandwiches
4 of us stopped here for sandwiches, beers & salads on a recent Saturday evening. You can order take away at the counter, or be seated and place your order from the menu with the waitress. The food was excellent, fresh, well presented and reasonably priced. The bread is amazing. Our waitress was efficient and friendly, unfortunately at the end of the meal (before our check was presented) a busgirl (?) kept coming over to the table to wipe it off. I think she wanted us to leave so someone else could be seated, but we didn't have the check yet so we could not get up and walk out. When the check finally came, she reappeared AGAIN and hovered while we were figuring the bill/tip we finally had to ask her to "give us a minute", not sure what exactly her function was, but she was not an asset to the establishment. We really like Cosi and will certainly go back!
