Shocked by review
I eat here twice a week either breakfast or lunch. Food is delicious, service is what is expected in a Manhattan restaurant. This is not a fancy five star restaurant it is a cozy family atmosphere. Children can go there and other patrons are not stuffy about that. It is always busy but service is in a timely manner.

Every Weekend
I'm shocked at the negative reviews this place gets. I come here almost every other weekend for brunch and always get great service and wonderful food. The omlettes are so tasteful and fluffy, always coming with corn muffin and 2x baked potato (and their 3 daily special omelettes change daily and are delicious and creative). The salads are great, the sandwiches are wonderful - and my bf always gets the french toast which is delicious! Yes, it gets busy but I've never had bad service. And the prices are more than reasonable.

Can't wait to go back!
The bread pudding was incredible! It was a sizable portion and very tasty. Our server was very friendly and prompt.

A dichotomy of service
Since I'm from California and have only been to the Corner Cafe & Bakery once (on Wednesday), I can't say what others have said is incorrect...but the negative reviewers' issues were not present the day I had the best salad I have ever eaten...I had Luca's Grilled Chicken Salad with goat cheese, beets and apples...it was amazing. I had warm and competent service and completely enjoyed the experience. The dichotomy came into play when I finished my meal, paid my bill, and went over to the takeout side of the restaurant to get some sweets for the friends I was visiting. I bought three packages of mini muffins and a pecan bar (which my friends say was WONDERFUL)...I got to the cashier, she stuck out her hand for my money (sans greeting or smile), and tossed me the change...a quarter fell on the floor, but she was already looking at the next customer's money and was completely oblivious to the fact she missed my out-stretched hand entirely...I was trying to lighten up the situation, so I said, "Oh, didn't I spend enough money?" She didn't even look up...Not the same lovely experience that I had just enjoyed on the other side of the restaurant...So, I love the food and service in the restaurant but am less than taken by the rudeness of the takeout....I'll go back next year and give them another chance (OK, I'll go for the salad!).
