Until recently I swore by the cheap beer, savory bistro burgers, and charming veteran bartender of Corner Bistro; yet after my last visit I will never again return to what was once my favorite neighborhood bar. My friend and I went to the Corner Bistro for dinner and drinks on a Sunday night, and noted the bar was filled predominately with middle aged men who were comrades with a bartender we had never met. We approached two empty seats at the bar, and were told that we, two young women, were not allowed to sit there. After nearly walking out, he called us back and granted us the seats. We endured a dinner laden with rude remarks, obnoxious leers and were ultimately mis-charged five dollars more than our meal cost. A place that mistreats patrons along the lines of gender is an establishment that deserves no support whatsoever from the community. If the Corner Bistro is going to survive, a serious re-evaluation of the staff, values and perpetuation of archaic systems of oppression needs to happen. In the name of the Bistro Burger, I sincerely hope it does.

Dude. What are all these naysayers talking about!? Corner Bistro is freakin' awesome! The burgers are amazing for the price and the fries are crsipy and fresh! Don't ever go on a Fri. or Sat. night, but this place is great! It's NYC. The bad staff, dirty bathrooms with no locks and wooden graffit'ed tables is all part of the experience. Give it a try...

Anywhere but here. Unfortunate decor and burger was worse. This place looks like its falling apart. My little sister can make better burgers than that overrated place. One server in the entire place.... you decide for yourself

This place is just way too small & the burgers are just O.K. ... I have had better burgers cooked the way I ordered them elsewhere in the West Village.

Got the bistro burger... good however not great... unfortunately with places like this, they're overhyped by the "pros." dont expect phenomenal service or a great atmosphere... you come here to eat a burger thats slightly above average...

Got asked to meet here on a Saturday night (admittedly a bad time). What was most likely going to be a chaotic experience was made even worse by the surly (being generous) waitstaff and bartender. I'm sorry people, but NYC is a fast-paced city with options on every corner. I don't care if your burgers are made of gold, and you sell them for a dollar. I can most likely find a similar deal two blocks away without rude, too-cool-for-school bartenders and hosts/waitstaff that cannot even take the time acknowledge you. And the burger...well it was just that: a burger I could have gotten almost anywhere else that wasn't a fast-food restaurant.

If the burger at Corner Bistro was actually all it was hyped up to be, maybe I'd be able to ignore the service. But, alas, it wasn't. It was just a burger, and not even a great one at that. Plus, at one point, after trying in vain for about 10 minutes to get somebody to bring me water, I gave up and decided I would have to be thirsty through most of dinner. I'm usually an 18-20% tipper, but this was the first place I've been to in a long time that I left 10%.
