Spanish Omelet was tasteless. Steak and eggs inedible. Strawberry daqueris had to be taken back. Reeked of chemicals and artificial flavors. Only one brunch special was available and it was not good. Asked to have liquor put in the smoothee. Another no. Asked for French Toast. No. Asked for hash browns? no. Asked what was in the Spanish Omelet? Waitress couldnt tell me. Asked to change a $100 bill. NO.

I live 2 blocks from Coral and the food is great and so are the people. In addition, they deliver until 10pm and will satisfy just about any craving you can think of. I have no complaints and recommend it to those that want somethign to grab on the go or a nice atmosphere to just relax and talk.

Order from here at least twice a month -- great greek salads and soups -- pea soup is much better than it should be. Great good coffee shop fare.

As a disclaimer: i live around the corner from the place, and it is my regular haunt. During some periods, i have gone there 5-6 days of the week. Whatever the case, it's for a reason. The Coral is among the few places i can go to in NYC and feel like i'm getting my money's worth. As a rule, they do a good and honest job in the kitchen, and the waitstaff does a good and honest job up front. The downstairs has reverted to a take-out operation, but their upstairs is a very pleasant restaurant & bar. Service is slower during the breakfast and lunchtime hours, but with good reason. The food is good, the price is right, and probably about 75% of their business is before 3pm. I'm a regular there during the dinner hours, where the waitstaff is very pleasant and efficient; the food is well prepared; and it's not frightfully raucous or noisy. Ultimately, it's a neighborhood place -- a diner that does a bit more than just diner fare. But whenever i have company over, i take them to the Coral. Likewise, whenever i'm alone and need to unwind. And, really, it's hard to go wrong there, food-wise. Their work with seafood has been sometimes outstanding and sometimes not so. But, generally, sometimes things go very well, and sometimes less well. But i've yet to have a negative experience there -- and that says a lot, given that i've been there, in all, probably 150+ times in the 18 months preceding this posting. There's nothing fancy or pretentious about the place or its fare.Rather, one is met with a straightforward, honest, good effort that doesn't cut corners. But i could go on and on. Put simply, i recommend it -- very, very highly.
