It was o.k.
So the atmosphere is definitely a lot better than its neighbors (trendy, cute spot) and the food is good, not great. But the portions are really small for the price. You can get much more food for cheaper about 20ft. away. Service was nice.

Don't Expect ...
The ambience is pretty good for a Lex restaurant. But the food is below average. We had the korma and we thought they had gotten us a kheer by mistake. The appetizers are so-so too. So overall, don't go there expecting good food.

Great Find on Curry Hill
This place has it all -- great food fun and romantic atmosphere. Gracious servers who don't mind talking about their country and food. A nice young manager who works hard with the staff. I was really impressed with the over all atmosphere and will be back soon with my girlfriend.

Unpleasant experience
Our food was excellent, but our dining experience was unpleasant. Our waitress was rude and intrusive. We could not get a bite in between her incessant visits to our table. We felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant even though there were only six people in the place.

I am a weekly customer
I did not plan on writing a review lest this restaurant actually become popular but this restaruant is my favorite indian restaurant in the city (I am indian and I live on 28th street, smack dab in curry hill). My biggest gripe re indo restaurants in city is there was no medium-level indian restaurant.. i.e. you have your Tablas and Devis at $25 an entree and you have your Haandis or Pongals at $6.95. No good middle ground. Copper Chimney is that middle ground. Real solid food - not fancy not out of this world - just solid indian food for $15 an entree. Quick service, they will accomodate rushes. I go there weekly now. Solid food in reasonable ambience at not ny absurd pricing. i would have expected pricing to be a little lower but quality of food (original and authentic flavors/textures are there) justifies return visits. I generally go with one other person and order 1 appetizer, 3 entrees (1 veg, 2 non-veg) + 1 rice and 1 bread. haven't eaten dessert here yet.

Very Upbeat and Funky
I came across this place from Open Table and found it worth trying it. The food is very flavourful and tasty. Excellent attentive service with courtesy. Great for holding birthday parties, the restaurant gives the cake on the house.

Great atmosphere, mediocre food
We (two Indians) visited Copper Chimney in "Curry Hill" with high expectations-- tired of the fluorescent lights and plastic seating of most Indian restaurants we've been to, we were eager to check out Copper Chimney's more sophisticated ambience. The atmosphere did not disappoint, but the food certainly did underwhelm us. The spice ratios of the food were totally off, and the gravies for the meat dishes were too watery. Our vegetable entree also did not taste very fresh. The menu is not as "fusion" as they claim, but quite traditional and North Indian. Finally, the portions are tiny--don't order one dish expecting to share, making the food overpriced. I would not recommend this place until the food improves. I'm going back to neon lights and plastic seats--at least the food at those sorts of places is fresh and tasty!
