Drinks great, food not so much
Went to Coppelia for the first time yesterday. The environment is really nice and the service was great. I sat at the bar with friends and we all tried different cocktails-- each were delicious. The food on the otherhand is so-so. My friend is a vegetarian and so I didn't get to taste any of the meat dishes (except for the empanadas with picadillo). Nothing really stood out-- we had fish tacos, quesadillas and the calamari. Needless to say this not "authentic" Cuban food. The calamari were actually kind of unappetizing-- with a thick cornmeal crust-- and my beef empanada had almost no meat. It was like an empty dough pocket. The tacos and quesadilla were ok. Having said all that, I do look forward to going back and trying some other things -- especially the mac and chicharron.

Tasty food
The food was really very good. The tostones were the best I have tasted in NYC-right up there with my sister-in -laws! Service was great and the waiters pleasant. The price was very good as well. I really recommend this place.

cutting back
Loved the Cuban Chicken soup with lots of chicken and vegetables. That was in the beginning. Now there's microscopic chicken, tons of potatoes and suddenly rice in lieu of tasty vegetables! A case of starting off with good food and then slowly watering it down.

Terrific
We've been here a few times and the food has always been very good. The portions are big but always tasty. The service is wonderful and attentive but not in your face. So far there hasn't been one bad meal. I only wish they'd get a beer and wine license!

Suprisingly great...really.
We had heard that it was great and finally tried it for ourselves. I'm sad it took so long especially since we're leaving the hood soon. It was great - ate all specials because they sounded so good but the desserts are a can't miss. they're fabulous.

Great new restaurant! Nice atmosphere. Wait staff very attentive. Mussels were delicious!

Loved it!
Food was great!! Well seasoned; good sized portions. Pleasant, attentive service. I'll definitely be back.
