Just took a friend here for his birthday with high expectations, and I was not disappointed. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. The spiced fried hominy and warm apple salad (which we shared and was prepared on 2 plates in the kitchen) were wonderful. I had the very tender short ribs over grits, and my friend had the cooked to perfection duck breast. The sevice was very friendly, making Cookshop worth the trip to this out-of-the way neighborhood.

Had lunch there yesterday. Pretty place, not overdone. Clean design, open kitchen (which I love!), lots of individual "WCs". Service was perfect. Our server was a delight. He couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. The place wasn't noisy and doesn't seem like it would be on a busy evening (something else I love!). With just two of us we weren't able to try many dishes. What we had (brisket sandwich, roast chicken, fries, grits, frangpane tart and sorbets) was delicious. The burgers that our neighbors had tempted me to have one for dessert. I'll definitely be back.

Food was fabulous - great fun noisy atmosphere. Very New York - everyone wears black, diners and staff. I thought they could have been more generous on the wine pours and those quatrinos(?) are a bit stingy.

I celebrated Valentine's here with my beloved and the night couldn't have gone better. Every portion of our meal was delicious, the razor clams and squid for appetizer and I thought my boyfriend got the best with the duck until I tasted my pork loin - the flavors were to die for! The atmosphere is so warm and friendly, I will going back again and again!

Dear all, I ordered the Florida shrimp for an app--- They were the best thing I ate all night long. Mind you though, there were only 3 of them for 12 dollars. Plus they were small. I had the New York Srip and it was not tender enough. I ate less than half of it, and although I did not expect it to be removed from the bill, I did expect an----"Is everything alright." My friend ordered the duck which he ate only a quarter of. Someone did ask him if he liked it and he said that it was not his favorite thing that he has had there. Bottom line is: four of us for a little over 100 bucks a piece and so so food and surroundings. As much as I would love to praise this restaurant to others, I just cannot.

I think the menu has changed since it was posted on the site. The only food I was not happy with was the mizuma salad. My husband had a shrimp appetizer that was outstanding and steak for a main dish. (the onion rings that came with the steak were so so) My friend and I shared the vegtable pot pie (delicious) and the scallops. The savignon blanc was great and the atmosphere was great. There was a line of people waiitng for tables but we did not feel rushed and would definately return

I had brunch this past weekend with my relatives here and was disappointed. We were one of the first reservations, yet our food took over 40 mins to come out. Each dish sounded interesting on the menu, but they were overall too rich, with too many creams, sauces and oils, and just over the top. The waiter was nice, and apologetic that the food took too long to come out, but I would not go back.
