I had a very good experience with Cookshop and I think this would be a great place for a casual yet trendy date. I went on a Wednesday night with reservations for 8:30 with my friend. Maybe because it was fashion week, but the place was packed and so it took a few minutes for the hostess to sit us down. The waitress was very prompt in asking us for our drink order, but it took her over ten minutes to get our wine to us and then to take our food order. This did not bother us so much because the place has a warm comfortable atmosphere that is a little loud but you are still able to have pleasant conversation. In addition, like I mentioned before, the place was packed and she was very busy so no fault on her or the staff. The food arrived well prepared and presented. We started with a squid appetizer which was delicious and also the deviled eggs. I did not care for the deviled eggs as I feel they had way too much paprika. Our main entrees were the rabbit with sausage and a scallop entrée. Both dishes were excellent. For desert we ordered the “Candy Bar” which was a sweet, salty, peanuty, chocolate, half frozen, mini thing on a stick. Fantastic. In conclusion, very good service despite a packed house and the food was great. Not too expensive either, there is a decent sized wine list that included some moderately priced options.

Have been here many many times but after they have fired a number of excellent and kind waiters and bartenders it starts to feel like an Olive Garden. No attention to clients and regulars and food has never been their strong point.

We had the reservation wrong and the hostess still seated us. Delightful. The suckling pic was wonderful.

I really thought the food was tasty...a lot of good flavors going on. The suckling pig was moist and love the crackling. The salad that came with it was zippy! Tasted the steak and was cooked perfect along with cilantro/jalepeno pepper salsa. Worth going back to try the lamb or rabbit

Title says it all. Arrive with a reservation, and wait 45 mintues past scheduled time - then be told the kitchen is closing, and you need to hurry up! Thank god there are so many other great restaurants in New York!

The food is just average, and not worth the price. Most NYC brunches include a drink, which makes this too expensive for a Sunday Brunch (40 a person)

The food was ok but our waiter talked too much and actually used quite a bit of profanity in his conversation. Kind of funny but also inappropriate.
