consistently great
i have been to congee village about 20 times over the past 4 years or so, and I always have a wonderful time. the food is consistently delicious, fresh, and appealing. And the prices are miraculous. good idea to order one or two dishes at a time, otherwise they throw everything at you at once.

Not the same
Over the years, I have gone to Congee Village and left satisfied. But, yesterday, that all changed. The portion size is half the size with the prices increased. The service is poor. They don't give you your whole order. You might have to ask a few times before you get you’re complete ordered if you are lucky. I never did get my bowl of rice.

Born and Raised in Canton
The food here is the creme de la creme of humble expanding ChinaTown. It is not as cheap as the other places might be but the food is certainly delicious and authentic. Even in times such as this, this is the one restaurant in CT that has yet to suffer the dreaded: Empty Tableitus! Here's what I recommend: Garlic Chicken - Crispy skin juicy tender meat, Fish Two ways half sauteed half lightly breaded and fried on wok Totally Boneless, Razor Clams- exotic and a bit spicy, Jellyfish- I like it...its different and rarely appears on western menus, Duck Tongue, Quail is delicious with a splash of lemon juice, sauteed string beans, and if you dare: Chicken Feet.

good, cheap food
My friends and I ate ourselves silly here--for only $12 per person. Everything was great--the fried rice (I think it had scallops in it), the chicken and mushroom congee, the scallion pancakes. I didn't eat the duck and the other congee, but my friends loved it. The servers were attentive and I was pleasantly surprised by the nice atmosphere. Definitely go in a group here. The five of us were seated immediately on a Thursday night.

Amazing congee, unbelievable value
I usually just get delivery, but it's actually pretty nice inside, too. Most things I've had have been excellent. Specific gems: congee with pork and egg and their buddha's delight (for veg). They also do the played out US-Chinese fare (General Tso...) extremely well.

Won't return
The food was really mediocre but the service is what sets this place apart, it was among the worst I've in New York. Certainly will not go back as there's tons of better restaurants where they treat you like a valued guest.

nice but not worth it
this is one of those places that you should defnitely give a try but the food is not on par. its actaully overpriced compared to other restaurants in chiantown. the trendy thing about this one is it has a bar for those waiting for tables. and the waiting area is quite cute. wooden tables/stools. but there usually isnt even anyone at the bar to serve you drinks. anyway its mostly a family place, since the tables in tehre are pretty big but couples are good too. you'll just be spending a lot of money when you could have ate better food and spent less in chinatown.
