While I can't say that the Dark Chocolate Mousse with Chai Ice Cream was for me... The Ricotta Crostini , Cauliflower Vegetable dish, and Hanger Steak were all delicious. And watching the Spaghetti Squash and Scallops (well everything) being made from seats at the counter at the kitchen makes me eager to go back to try those too!

Went here for the first time today for brunch and absolutely loved it. Food and drinks were both done well, food came so quickly too. Donuts are a must-try. Only complaint is that the open kitchen is VERY open, and it was very hot and very smokey in there, although it was 40 degrees outside and all doors and windows were wide open. Could get bad in the summer. But we will be back.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood. I have been to the JTH and some of the other ones that people in the Heights are proud to call their own, but Colonie is truly the best. The cocktails are delicious, strong, they change seasonally, and you don't have to go into Manhattan (or C.C.) for a "mixologist". They also have a decent wine list that has a bottle/glass for all sized wallets. As for the food- you can not go wrong at any meal- their brunch is awesome (cheddar grits are not to be missed, nor is the duck hash)- and their dinner service is worth traveling IN to Brooklyn for. I have been there more than my fair share of times- and have enjoyed everything- from chilled soups, to pate, to scallops and duck. Their deserts will also not disappoint. Their atmosphere is also cool, but not too hipster-ish or try hard. You can bring friends there and they would think you were cooler for it. Or a girl that was out of your league, might be in your league after a visit here.

I went last week with a small group for a friend's birthday and were told there would be a 40 minute wait. Long story short the hostess mistakenly thought we wanted to sit at the bar and so gave away our table after we had been waiting for 30 minutes or so. If she had apologized and said she would give us the next table there would not have been an issue. Instead she was incredibly rude and when, after an hour and a half, I asked her how long she thought it would be before we were seated said she didn't know and walked away as I was speaking to her. The food was good and the rest of the service perfectly fine, but it was not worth waiting an hour and 40 minutes. Dealing with such a nasty woman made it hard to enjoy anything about the restaurant.

I live in the neighborhood, I love everything about this place - cool space, I like the open kitchen, the garden wall is pretty. I went once for drinks after it opened and the service was slow (but the cocktail was great - fresh kumquats mashed with gin!) About a month later I went back, Colonie had been open for over a month so I thought it would be tight. My waitress was pretty nice, the wine was delicious (a carafe of rose from Long Island), but the food was so-so, ok mushroom roasted with pear, followed by an ok steak. I went back last weekend for my best friend's birthday, really great night. Loved the baby lettuce salad, fresh and lively. I usually don't order soup, but my waitress was so excited about it I caved: a cold squash soup with a deep friend goat cheese stuffed squash as a garnish - oh my god I was drooling. Pork belly was cooked perfectly, so tender, delicious over a bean salad. Looking forward to going back. Hard to get a table, but once you do it's easy to be satidfied.

stale bread basket, tasteless or overpowering food, nothing subtle and definitely not something to remember.

Expensive new American that tries to pretend exposed birck means atmosphere when it actually just means no money spent on interior design. The service is some of the worst in NY as hipster waiters act like they are doing you a favor. I really question some of the perfect reviews below.
