    Great Food

Service is ok and it's a bit pricy but the food is absolutely worth it!

    Better thaN I expected

After a long, exhausting day of sightseeing, my boyfriend, who has eaten here before, treated me to a lovely dinner at Colbeh. This was my first experience with Persian food, and I'm happy to say it was a pleasant one. We had been out in the sun wnd heat all day so the air conditiined interior was a welcome relief, though as the night wore on, I had to out on my sweater because the air was so chilled. The interior is very nice with modern lightig. I had expected a more 'Persian' ambiance with heavy ornate decor. Very pleasantly surprised. The menu, for me, was a small problem. I do not eat meat or chicken and there are few vegetarian options. They do offer a small selection of fish entrees as well as sushi, though. My boyfriend ordered the sea bass kebobs and I asked the waiter if it was possible for them to make me a vegetarian plate with falafel balls and salads, all of which were listed on the menu under appetizers. My first impression of the food placed before us was of size. Large oblong platters mounded high with food. It was colorful and plentiful. The sea bass my boyfriend ordered looked good. I did sample it, and found it to be very moist and soft with the flavor of the grill. Very pleasant. It was served with persian rice and some salads. My platter was a far from what I had expected. Instead of the usual falafel plate of hummus and babaghanoush, this platter was mounded with Israeli salad, two types of rice, grilled vegetables, hearts of palm salad, a mango salad and a big grilled tomato. A plate of falafel balls arrived a minute later. Though most of the food was cold, it was tasty and very pleasing to the eye. All in all it was a great experience. True' the waitstaff is not the most attentive, but they were polite and always refilled our water glasses (we declined the bottle of water on the table) and even fulfilled my request of a glass of ice. Though a bit pricey, the portioms are reasonable and the space itself noteworthy. Definteily worth a return visit.

    They have my wine

I often go to this restauramnt for dates and such. I always find the staff friendly and attentative. The food is always good, wine selection is good, atmosphere is very pretty and I can say I haven't had a disappointing experience yet. I dont know why there are bad reviews, but I have also been to the one in Great Neck and although they dont have the wine selection of the city I don't have a complaint. I had a problem once and they were very quick to rectify it. I am very picky and only keep kosher and I can tell you I had a great time and haven't been disappointed.

    Better than the rest

As far as koshe restaurants go, this is the best, both in quality and price. The menu is not as creative as other places but everything we ordered was fresh and tasty

    Embarrassing business lunch

I went for a "holiday lunch" with colleagues who, although they don't keep kosher, considerately offered to go to a kosher restaurant. The waiter was solicitous but didn't follow up to make sure all ordered dishes were delivered (they weren't and at a certain point we just gave up). Despite many requests for water refills, we couldn't seem to get that to happen. The chicken dish I was having was accompanied by a salad which turned out to have two fish bones hidden in it. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he apologized profusely and offered to make amends. I declined, but asked him to make sure the kitchen staff was made aware. He then brought a dish of fruit as compensation -- which was of poor quality (grapes soft and mushy, watermelon past its prime and tangy). Check arrived with full charge for everything but the fruit platter. My colleagues were gracious, but I was embarrassed. Not highly recommended in general and definitely not for business lunches with those who don't.

Food was decent but I still would never go back. The prices were way too high for food that was only average. There was also a bottle of water on my table, looked to be just nice tap water, and when I got the bill I say $7.50 for that. $7.50 for warm tap water! Between the water and the average food, I won't ever go back.

Have Requested My Kosher Friends to Remove From Their List

I had dinner there on a Monday night and the place was jumping. The space is actually quite pretty and the crowd was lively for a Monday. I found the food to be average , but overpriced. I've found a lot of Kosher restaurants with overpriced food, but some food superior to others. Not here. I had 2 sushi rolls which were okay, but didn't appreciate the overly mushy texture of the avocado or the "strange" texture of the rice. My Kosher friend had the Salad Shirazi and soup of the day which looked pretty hearty. She seemed to enjoy both. My other 2 friends shared a mixed platter of a vareity of dips and spreads. Neither did it look appetizing, nor did they eat it all (despite having ordered nothing else for dinner). The service was to be desired. One of my friends had to shout to get water refilled and had to start waving her hands to get someone's attention for the check. Our total bill averaged about $80 for the 4 of us. 2 of us had 1 glass of wine each. The story would end here if it were not for the fact that adding insult to injury, I left my neck scarf which had been a sentimental Christmas gift years ago. Twice I called the manager (?) to be told, "I'm too busy, call me back another time." And when I call back at the designated time, I get the same response, "I'm too busy, call me back another time." Sheesh! How rude can you get? He wasn't too busy to take our money Monday night.
