OK, agreed, this place is inexpensive and has that sort of "hole in the wall" appeal. But c'mon, good food? We've (my girlfriend & I) eaten there twice, both times with dissapointing results. We really wanted to like it, but it failed to deliver. Small menu, garlic overcompensation, poor seasoning. Bottom line: walk up 2 blocks, pay $5 more for an entree, and get a better meal.

I have been a regular at COLAS since it's opening. The food is consistently great and have always really enjoyed eating there. Sevice has always been good. we have ordered asparagus salad with shaved permisan chees, quite a large dish lamb shank, and whole brook trout.I now can add not just great food but GREAT SERVICE as well.

I came here with my mother-in-law for a quick bite before heading to the theatre Friday night. We didn't have a reservation, and the waiter generously gave us a great table in the back corner. My mother-in-law is a very picky eater, and is usually hard to please (sometimes it is embarassing)... Our waitrer was very patient, and completely respectful with the (outragious) demands. Our food was delicious, I had the Lamb Shank with a lovely seafood risotto, and my guest had the quenelles, like some sort of fish crab with shrimp cakes. They both were great. I will definitley come back with my husband for a relaxed dining experience.

Ate there tonight with friends. We were late for our reservation and John still held our table. Food was great and we felt very special because of his good nature.

Highly recommend this little gem. Food is delectable, prices are amazingly inexpensive, the atmosphere is charming and the staff is very friendly and inviting - all in the very hot little village of Chelsea. A must for visitors and native New Yorkers alike. Mange!

I went here on New Year's eve with a friend. The food was great and the waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the food and wines. We ordered the lasagna which came with veal sauce and the chicken parmegiana and we cleaned our plates. The atmosphere was very peaceful and intimate. Unfortately there was a couple next to us with very poorly behaved children but what can you do? I will definitely come here again.

What a great surprise. Great food and very inexpensive. The proscuitto/fontina cheese panini was delicious. The key lime pie was fresh and one of the best I've ever had. I would go back again and again.
