Cocoa bar is an oasis of chill. Mellow music, decent coffee, aesthetically pleasing staff, and a great back yard area. This is the place in park slope to go if you have a writing deadline, very laptop friendly and they make delicious sandwiches so no need to leave for lunch. Always a diverse, multigenerational, friendly collection of patrons.

Their chocolates are yummy, but the rest of the place is such a disaster that, even though a half block away, I prefer to walk a mile to other area chocolate shops. Not worth dealing with the people that work there and lack of quality of their other items.

Cocoa bar has limited, mediocre desserts and coffee. Overpriced and, most of all, extremely arrogant slow staff. So rude, I'll never go back!

This place used to be nice when it first opened. They have to get a new staff! They are repeatedly obnoxious and I will never return. I have tons of specific examples of their rudeness, but won't bore you. Also, in the past year, every dessert and chocolate I liked went away and they hardly have anything anymore. It looks bare.

When I go in for my morning coffee at 8, I see bright eyed employees. When I return at 8 pm, THE SAME PEOPLE ARE THERE. Still bright eyed. That's so strange. Then the next day, they're there again. I think the same 5 people are just there all the time and never leave. Also, the moms breast-feeding in the back room make things a little awkward. The music gets really annoying if you're there a lot. The espresso drinks I've had are amazing, and the chocolates, though overpriced, are good as well. They no longer carry the chocolate covered figs, which is weird. I guess I am really half and half about this place. I'm in love with the cute/hip staff and the sometimes organic coffee. I wish they didn't charge you for a full pound of loose coffee beans when they actually weigh out much less. Just ignore the screaming infants, the breast-feeding moms, the music, and enjoy the seemingly rigorous process required in making your espresso drink (they time things and grind things and push lots of buttons... it looks crazy)

I've been going here for 1.5 years, being that I live down the street. I went from going almost every day to maybe once a month. Everytime I go there now, I wish I didn't. Mainly, it's the workers; slow with attitude. Sometimes they think they're so cool, it just comes off as rude. The desserts are okay but the coffee is terrible.

I've been here a few times now, and I'm constantly amazed by the good reviews. While I'll admit that their chocolates are just fine, I've never had a decent dessert or a decent espresso drink at this establishment. The first time I went there, my latte had been so steamed that the milk had curdled. Not that it mattered, but the espresso tasted burnt. The second time I came back, the red velvet cake was dry and flavorless. The third time that I returned, the double chocolate cake was also flavorless, and so dense that it could have been used to hammer nails into walls. I will say, however, that the staff seemed extremely friendly. Also, the atmosphere is nice and actually pretty chill. Overall, if they would fix their dessert issues, I'd probably visit again.
