The lunch specials are out of this world, but the service is awful. I've been there when it was practically empty, but still the service was so slow/non-existant, I walked out. The to-go service is fine, as long as you can pick it up.

Sorry folks - I never write reviews but I felt inclined to after a particularly bad/mediocre experience. I know Peruvian food. I'm not from Peru and I'm not an expert but I have eaten at some of the best Peruvian spots on the East Coast (in Hartford CT) . so I do have something to compare ths to.. Here are my complaints: This is was basically like bad hotel food. Bland, not fresh and expensive. The cervice was just raw fish swimming in a pool of salty light flavored water. The sides came a good 15 minutes before the main course. The live music (bless their heart) just made the situation worse. The service was not terrible but certainly left a lot to be desired. Lastly - this place is NOT cheap! Sorry folks. My best advice- stay away..

I'm only reviewing the delivery service: I've never had any problems with the delivery from Smith St. location, but the Park Slope location is another story...There's always items missing when I've ordered from the Park Slope restaurant. The last time they forgot to include the rice and beans portion of the vegetables + rice/beans entree. We called back and were promised that the missing rice/beans would be delivered shortly. It came 45 minutes later.

One of my favorite neighborhood places for lunch time takeout. LOVE the chicken sandwich. The best deal in the house is the slow-cooked rotisserie chicken. Don't forget to ask for the chimichurri sauce on the side! It's terrific. The ceviche is reputed to be excellent as well, although one time I ordered the clams and was disappointed. They were clearly not fresh, which is unacceptable for shellfish. The waitstaff here is lousy. Expect them to be slow and forgetful.

The creamy shrimp soup and empanadas are delicious! I will definitley return.. although the service is not great, the food makes up for it.

This place has the worst service-to-tastiness ratio I have ever experienced. They used to have a great waitress several years ago named Melissa. She was the only reliable server they had and she's gone. Every time I have been there since, the servers were slow, forgetful, and totally incompetent. My boyfriend and I went there for an early dinner one night and although we were one of THREE tables in the house our server barely remembered to visit our table. Drinks came after the appetizers which took 30 mins to arrive. Our repeated reminders were met with surprise at our mere presence. Water was hard to come by and we had to beg for the plaintain chips and sauce that customarily comes when you're seated. She had three tables! I can't understand why Coco Roco has such a hard time finding good people for the front of the house. Perhaps they think that because their chicken is so juicy and the skirt steak is so tender they don't really need to invest in good help. People keep going back so why should they bother.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the capirihna that I ordered and my friend and I split the shrimp ceviche which was in an amazing sauce. The crispy red snapper with coconut rice was delicious. Both the ceviche and the snapper were recommendations from the waiter and I was more than pleased by his suggestions. We ate outside on a beautiful night and the atmosphere was wonderful. The only drawback was that it took a very long time for us to get our main course, which could have been frustrating if we didn't order an appetizer.
