Terrific Mexican Good
Fresh, tasty, different, and great vegetables. Grilled calamari excellent. Both chicken and skirt steak delicious. Reasonable prices, in nice atmosphere, plus excellent service.

I wanted to love it
I was so excited to try Cocina Economica, especially after reading all of these reviews. Alas, I had an awful experience. So much of the food has off-putting, strange (no, not "authentic"--I've traveled extensively in Mexico and eaten all manner of regional dishes--just strange) flavors. Even the guacamole had a pronounced raw egg yolk flavor which made me gag. Yuck.

Amazing
Wow, what amazing and fresh Mexican. Not the traditional fast food-esque, gloppy cheesed Mexican we are used to in NY. The herbs are fresh, the spice is subtle yet noticeable and the service is wonderful.

A scrumptious treat for even the most picky of eaters!
This restaurant had some amazingly yummy genuine Mexican food! I was so impressed with the guacamole corn bread and then we had the vegetables with tortillas for our main course. Even the corn tortillas were hot and fresh! The restaurant was crowded when we first arrived, but the staff still made every effort to get us seated as quickly as possible and then our orders were processed immediately thereafter. This restaurant is definitely one that is worth treating yourself to if it is Mexican food that you are craving.

Best Mexican on the UWS
The best Mexican spot in the Upper West is finally here. Very traditional, fresh ingredients, and tasty tequila & mezcal cocktails to compliment the meal. I had the Avocado Corn Bread, Chicken Wings with Chile de Arbol, Spicy braised Pork Shoulder and a Banana Empanada for dessert. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Former Recipe morphs into dreamy Mex
Devastated by Recipe's closure we were uncertain for what would dare to compare. Well the genious behind the former cuisine has seriously mastered the Mexican dish, and goes above and beyond to wow even the most selective of palates. In love with the short ribs, beautifully prepared, simple yet melts in your mouth. Mmmm cornbread is a special treat. Go for the chorizo quesadillas and without question the bass and enjoy making your own fish tacos. The pumpkin adds an exhillerating touch to that dish. Perfect UWS local spot, cant wait to try the other dishes. Deprived of great Mex....no more!
