    decent place

i personally only go for the hookah, which is a bit over priced, but the atmosphere is great. food was poor the one time that i did get it. we ordered a cheese plate which is supposed to come with pita, olives, and various cheeses. when it came out, it was about 10 - 15 cubes of swiss with 2 olives for decoration

Not good at all. Will not return

There are so many good restaurants in this area I don't know how this hokey place is surviving. I ordered Lobster Bisque soup which was pretty good. My spicy sausage and seafood pasta was terrible and my girlfriend order a salmon penne pasta which was also dreadful. Service was just okay and they added 20% gratuity for just the 2 of us. The tables and chairs were old and uncomfortable. Don't bother with this place, it was really disappointing.

    Great Atmosphere, Poor...everything else

I was here with friends, twice. The first time we only did hookah and the bill was horribly high. The waitresses are clearly only hired based on looks as opposed to skill because she didn't even come to us once after having taken our orders. The pricey Hookahs arent that great and at $20 a pop i'd expect better service. The second time i went my friends ordered some food and the order was competely wrong.

    Decent food, poor service

The food was decent, as was the setting, though the tables, chairs, plates, etc. look they came from a dumpster dive. My behind was soar afterwards from the hard chair. My Eggplant Parmesan was really more of an eggplant lasagna, and the side salad was greasier than an order of McDonald's french fries. My boyfriend's shrimp scampi was delicious, but the portion was tragically small. For the bad: the service was poor. The waitress paid more attention to the mirror than to us. The servers are here b/c of their looks, not skills. She started to clear our entree plates while I was still eating! For dessert, I ask for the key lime mousse. Which the don't have. So I shoot for a raspberry mousse. No. Same for the chocolate mousse. So, finally I ask "What *do* you have? She names 5 out of the dozen or so desserts listed on the menu. For the extended grand finale, it took us about 20 minutes to get the check...which they added 20% gratuity for themselves, for our party of 2.

    really disappointing

I met my wife here last night for a quick bite. I figured I'd play it safe and get a chicken kebab. When the food came out I ate a really cold piece. It turned out to be really undercooked and close to raw inside. They didn't even comp our meal and instead comped me one measly drink.

    Poor service

Took about 25 minutes to get a martini (which wasn't good) and a rum and coke; longer still to get a second round, and then the waitress snuck a gratuity on the bill - for a party of three! I could not be paid to return.

    a NY gem

Truly a great restaurant! I have eaten here many times, tried many dishes and been consistently impressed with the food quality and selection. And I am very picky. The ambiance inside and outside is unique and relaxing. Cloisters is a great choice for a date or a night of drinks and hookah with your buds.
