Amazing brunch. Order the banana walnut pancakes!

Going downhill
It's sad when something really good starts getting left unattended. I went their for dinner recently and all I can say is the food here has gotten really sloppy. Portion sizes have gotten clunky and tasteless. Not one thing we ate there was worthy of the calories consumed. Maybe they should just stick to making pancakes since those are hard to mess up.

Not just for breakfast
not just a brunch place. i've had the burgers at jg melon, bobby van's, smith & wollensky, burger joint, shack shake, and more and this burger is delicious and very beefy with excellent potatoey-tasting fries.

Good enough, but not worth the wait
We had great banana pancakes here one morning, but are they worth $13 and a 2 hour wait? Nah. Disappointing chocolate shake to boot. Biscuits and service were decent.

Best Pancakes!
The mile-long queue is a big deterrent to enjoying a leisurely/stress-free weekend breakfast here as they do not take reservations and there's absolutely no place to rest except to stand in line, so getting into the cafe itself is a pain, but things look up as soon as you get past the door :) Superb blueberry pancakes with the most delicious warm maple butter, Neil's biscuits and great breakfast can be had here - as long as you're willing to wait!

mediocre taste doesn't compensate for bad attitude
CSBC's quality has increasingly become diluted thanks to the overwhelming popularity this place has received. not only has the food gone from amazing to mediocre-sub par, but the service has gone right down the toilet. i loathe the fact that what used to be an excellent eating establishment experienced a drop in the food's caliber. and to compensate for the drop in standards? rude servers. i just called to inquire for delivery and whomever picked up the phone hung up on me not once, but 3 times. when they actually picked up the 4th time, i asked, are you still open and the woman who picked up the phone flatly stated they were closed. don't even bother picking up the phone and then hanging up if you're closed. what kind of an establishment has CSBC turned into these days? it used to be a homey place to eat - mom and pop type place run by a cute couple.

Been a customer for 7 years!
yes, back in 2002, we never had to wait for a table at clinton street. 6 of us could show up and we'd be seated immediately and we would immediately struggle over what to order. on more than one occasion my friends and i would be totally gluttonous and order 2 entrees each and finish every last bite. on snow days we'd have the entire place to ourselves! while those days are gone and the restaurant has been lucky enough to be PACKED on even weekday mornings, i will say that they deserve it. the food is so great and makes me so happy when i eat it. i get this overwhelming sense of security and zen from their pancakes. i crave their huevos rancheros weekly. my parents still bug me constantly to take them to get the buttermilk biscuit sandwich. i would recommend getting food to go and sitting in a park eating or at home if you dont want to wait in line. it will still taste amazing.
