    Brava civetta!

Dined @ Civetta last night. (Owl, in Italian - hence the Owl motiff) Wonderful atmosphere - like dining in a rustic Italian farmhouse. Food was delicious - especially arancini appetizer and penne bolognese. Great lounge downstairs for drinks either before or after dinner. The restaurant's acoustics are not great (the only downside) so be prepared to speak loudly (and ease the scratch in your throat with a glass or two of prosecco!)

    A mini-vaca

From the moment my friends and I walked in until we left the experience was absolutely magnificent and most of all extremely entertaining.

    Shaking? Really?

This place was great- the atmosphere was romantic and very comfortable- I loved the dark wooden tables and the huge vase filled with sunflowers! The entrees were good, but not worth the price (which I heard they were going to lower). But the mini plates were so tasty, and different! Different terms and flavor combinations I had never had before. And I have to say, the dessert was so much better than expected. I have been there twice, and never noticed shaking- what are you people talking about?

    Not impressed

The atmosphere was decent minus the loud rumbling of the subway underneath you every few minutes and the grub was OK albeit nothing special. The pastas were kind of basic for the price, and I personally found them to be too heavily drenched in flavorless sauce. Appetizers were good though. What irked me the most was the fact that we made a 6pm reservation, arrived just before 6 and were told that they were "still setting up" and we "could have a seat at the bar." We did that and weren't able to sit at our table until 6:15-6:20. Don't make 6pm reservations if you can't accomodate, we had somewhere to be. The service was also a bit awkward- too many waiters standing around just watching you eat.

    Great Experience

Had a great time here the other day. I went with a party of 5 other people and we all had a really good experience. The cocktail list is fun and the wine we had with dinner was really good and reasonable. We ordered our food "family style" and it all came out on big plates and was all great. I especially like the rigatoni with meat sauce and the artichoke raviolis in mushroom broth (I think it was a special - not on the menu). I was too stuffed for dessert but my friends all really enjoyed the peach cake. It's a really fun space and the whole front is made of doors that they opened up once it cooled down. Totally great place for going with a bunch of friends! Definitely going back!

    Great all around

Had a great meal at civetta recently. The menu is giant but has some major standouts! Definitely don't miss the arancini, the monkfish polpette, or the rigatoni with bolognese! The lounge downstairs is really fun too!

    Great pasta

Ignore the terrible speller below, the whole point of Civetta is that its simple. If you want to have a bunch of sides on the same plate as your meal, get a TV dinner. I've been twice and think the pasta is pretty amazing. Get the homemade stuff with the San Marzano.
