I have never reviewed any restaurant EVER. I'm a jaded New Yorker, originally from Beverly Hills, so I have extremely high standards. I was treated like a princess at City Sandwich... the owner made me and my friend feel like we were the only customers, and he took time out to point us in the right samich direction. We even got a free dessert after! The service, not to mention the delicious food, will keep me coming back seriously every day. I know 9th ave. is typically gross, but this restaurant makes the trek very much worth it. The owner really knows how to keep people coming back to his shop. Go there, it's awesome.

An amazing place. Went there with my bf to try portuguese food. The quality of the ingrediants is unmatched in nyc: From perfectly cooked octopus to pickled sardines made from SCRATCH on SITE! Not only was the owner/chef there to greet you but was so anxious for you to try everything that he offered us a free taste of things we didn't order! Be adventurous here! everything is tasty! Decor is very chic and cozy. A MUST GO!

It's to good to miss out. A friend had a portuguese pancetta sandwich and could not stop talking about this place.I never thought I would come across the best sardine sandwich ever! No canned crap, this is the real thing. Can't wait to try the octopus and the blood sausage. Done't ever leave us City Sandwich !

The sandwiches in this place always score, and the bread is always fresh and distinctive. The people are friendly and it's ovbiously a family business, but the menu layout is crazy! The counterpeople continually ask if you would like the menu explained to you... as i they complicated it to give themselves an opportunity to show you how nice they are. I think they should simplify the weird menu categories, list sandwiches like every other place, and advertise that it's a portuguese sandwich shop on the window or something. People like to try new cuisine. city sandwich sounds like imitation Subway. If this place fails, it won't be because of the food.

Remember what the shops in NY used to feel like back when - this place has it all going on. Extremely attentive staff always ready to say hello and explain the menu. If we were to discover a sunken gourmet ship with it's treasured tasty recipes City Sandwich would be the modern version. The chef has captured the true colors of both simple and exotic ingredients and ingeniously blended them together to give us the perfect sandwich (I had the "NUNO"a Portuguese blood sausage). It felt like a sandwich holding that crispy warm bread but after the first bite I knew it was a perfect meal ; and they take out the inside of the bread so you don't walk away ready to burst like most sandwich places. I can not believe how affordable these succulent no mayo sandwiches are, it's unheard of ! You can't help but want to take another one home for later. I travel for a yummy sandwich. After hearing about this place I shot across from E60 - Will do it again and again. Hells Kitchen has been blessed with a touch of insanely delicious sandwiches. Please City Sandwich come over to the upper east side!
