Lunch for party of eight - everything took forever - food was not hot or old and was as best mediocre. Service is dismal. Trust me - AVOID - these sorts of establishments have no place in NYC.

Omg, we had a good time. I work in the area but never dined at City Lobster before today. I've heeard one of my co-workers about their lobster festival and decided to give it a shot. The lobster was amazing. sweet and tender. Should have gone for a 3 lbs. which cost only $39! Best lobster prices in NYC. Don't think-Go!

The food was excellent, the lobster or the fish preparation everyone ordered was fantastic (4ppl). The service was terrible, the wait person we had, did not have a good knowledge of the menu or the wine list. We ended up poring the wine and having to flag someone down whenever we needed something. This is a great place for really good lobster at a reasonable price (for Manhattan) just don't expect much after that.

Real bad... real big disappointment. We waited forever for our food and when it arrived it was sub-par. Save your money and go to a real seafood resturaunt for lunch. We didnt even test the culinary skills of the kitchen with our super-easy to prepare orders... but if they couldnt get those right, I'd be affraid to see what they produce for dinner entrees. Some other highlights of our experience... (a) they changed the pre-fixe menu for resturaunt week on us -- which was the main reason we came -- from very alluring entrees to unappealing, unoriginal dishes. (b) the price of regular menu items were changed on us, after we decided to work off of the regular menu as opposed to the resturaunt week "recently revised" options. (c) Calamari appetizer-- about as good as calamari at a big chain. Small, masked with breading and spices, and chewy. (d) Lobster Brioche -- decent lobster meat stuffed onto a tiny slab of over-buttered bread, served with a side of soggy fries. Coming to you at the very reasonable price of $25!

Some of these review must have been written ages ago. I've been to this place (near where I now live) a few times now and each time I walk away I'm like, dang, that was pretty impressive. The fish is ofcourse fresh, it is at most nice places, but they always cook it perfectly. I had grouper a couple weeks back, and you know, now I like grouper. Whoever the chef is actualy makes me like food I've never tried before. I really, really, like this place for brunch though. Every other brunch you go to in the city has the same ten things to order from, check out their brunch menu...its insane. Heuvo Rancheros with shrimp, Egg's Benedict on crab cakes, an omelette with crab and artichoke hearts.

I know this place gets a bad rap from some reviews but I go often when in the city and have never had a problem. Was there this past Sunday and had the Sea Bass which is always excellent and my aunt had the filet mignon which she said was excellent. We had profitoles (sorry cannot spell) with coffee ice cream and fudge sauce for dessert which were great. The manager also heard us asking about getting a cab because my aunt was very tired walking all day and went out of her way to get us one as soon as we left the restaurant. I thought it was very nice of her to be so considerate and helpful and I will continue to be a patron in their restaurant. I would say to anyone to give it a try and form your own opinion of the place.

I just came from eating there. I got off work early and ran into a friend. Together we check this place out...and it was sub par. But i can't say more because we were at the bar. Great bar service and the bar food was okay. I had the fried calamari and a Burger. My friend had the Rib eye and dumplings...my friend didn't have anything bad to say about it. I thought the burger was a bit bland. We had some beers and then decided on a dessert...so i went with a Chocolate cake and my friend sorbet. Wow...great cake! It was this rich sweet moist cake. On the menu it said 7 layers...i counted 6, so i asked "What type of cake it was" and the friendly bartender said its a new cake "Chocolate Mousse Cake"
