Reservations don't matter, they can't tell time

Arrived on time for 6:30 reservation. The place is packed. The hostess tells me the 6pm seating still isn't finished - what place expects people to finish ordering, eating and paying for their meals in an 1/2 hr. I tell the hostess we have theater tickets and need to be in and out quickly. Says she can seat us in 5 minutes. Time ticks away - after asking a couple more times and it is now 6:50 - we leave. I get voice message - with the hostess saying it is 6:45 and they are ready to sit us and sorry the 15 min delay. The message time stamped at 7:05 -- maybe the hostess should learn how to tell time

    Never again

Have been to City lobster several times and this was my last. Had a reservation at 6:30 and had to leave my dessert behind to make it to an 8:00 show. Waited 40 minutes for our meal after an appetizer. Had to ask for a towel to wipe hands after eating lobster. Explain to waiter had a show to make and still waited forever for dessert. They brought me the bill with $20 service charge included in it. We were never asked if we wanted coffee with our dessert. This place became a version of a bad chain restaurant with poor service.

    Good Holiday Pre Fixe menu

The food was good, I ordered from the holiday Pre fixe menu. I ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, the petite filet mignon with garlic shrimp as an entree (Found crab shells in the crab and lobster thing that was mixed with the bernaisse sauce), and the Creme brulee cheesecake (Delish!). My party of 4 enjoyed their food and were satisfied with their portions. I would definately return to this place. My only gripe, aside from the shells in my entree, was our waiter. He was absolutely terrible. He seemed like he was in another world, . He barely got our drink order, disappeared for 30 mins, came back for out food order, disappeared for 20 mins, sped by once to see if everything was ok, and only reappeared with the check. Our table and another table he was waiting were constantly trying to seek out our waiter and trying to get his attention. I was so disappointed in our waiter that I was contemplating changing waiters.

Great food for the $, service so-so

The food here is very good - the lobster mash potatoes are to die for and the fish dishes are delish. Our hostess was very patient as we changed tables (they crank the heat by the window tables FYI), but we were seated at a nice booth. Great menu and our meal was served in a timely manner. Cappucinno was also very good, but our waitress forgot our dessert which was delivered after we finished our coffee. It wasn't crowded, so she could have been a bit more attentive - but honestly, I would return. And - it's tastefully decorated for the holidays.

A great place with great service! Go Now!

So it's restaurant week in NYC and there are so many places to visit. I am visiting the city for the first time ever with my best friend and we bumped in to this place. At first I thought the place was Red Lobster because of the name. Anywho we went inside and it was a madhouse! Packed. I mean dining room and bar. We were finally sat in the back and it was insanely warm. I was just praying that the food will at least make us forge about the heat. We were greeted by our server who had such a cute accent from Britain or Australia (I'm American, I can't tell the difference) and he was just amazing! He had such a great personality and was very welcoming. We ordered a bottle of the Pinot grigio and for that price, it was amazing wine. After some chitchat we got down to ordering our food. He suggested I try the pan roasted lobster and it was absolutely delicious! I am so glad I followed his suggestion. Our server was such a gentleman and even offered to help me with my lobster bib (I found that quite adorable) and made small talk with us. Definitely check this place out! I'm not sure how long this restaurant week deal is going on for but I will definitely visit again whenever I visit NYC again. I just hope we get the same server!

    Love the Menu!

I dont know why there are so many bad reviews about this place. I work in the neighborhood and I often have lunch there. Awesome cobb salad, lobsters are cheap, wonderful service, and the location is just perfect. The only thing that I have noticed is that it can get very busy and therefore, the food takes longer to come out. Other than that, I love the place!

The lobters are great but the service are very poor

The food are very good but the waiter served us it seems he didn't want us there. We are really dissapointed. We were dress and nice too. The waiter looked 50 years old and look like Italian or Greek. He only nice to us when he saw the good tip. Really dissapoited.
