Decided to check this place out with friends last night-had reservations, table wasn't ready right away so we went to the bar for a drink where the server convinced us to stay for dinner. Wish we would've declined-service was poor. Server was rude, and slow. Asked for our drink order, then when I ordered a martini for myself and a cocktail for my boyfriend who had gone to the bathroom he threw his hand in the air, said he needed ID (we're all in our late 20's) to which we responded no problem, but he insisted on getting water before looking at our ID to put in the drink order. Once he finally took the order, it took 15 minutes to get drinks. Throughout the night, service between every course was very slow-appetizers were very slow to come out, and we often sat drinkless at the table. For a high end place, I expected much more. When the check came, we split it in 2 (2 couples, so we just had him split down the middle) And due to poor service, we tipped him approximately 18% (44 on a 230 bill) He had the audacity to come BACK to the table afterward and demand we give him a higher tip!! He says to us that acceptable gratuity in Manhattan is 15-20%, and very arrogantly asks if everything is ok. We responded yes, and as we were all appalled, just got up and left. Ended up speaking with the manager on the way out, who was apologetic but did nothing to help the situation. Sadly, I don't think we will be returning. Food was good, but there are plenty of great seafood restaurants in this city where we don't have to deal with this kind of attitude.

We celebrated our 23rd anniversary last week at City Lobster. Everything and I mean everything from the food to the service as well as the presentation was superb! Our waiter was very accomadating. Looking forward to going back again tonight.

Went for restaurant week. I believe it says alot about a restaurant when they throw something together only because it's at a discounted rate. Lobster- REALLY OVERCOOKED, Soup- seasoning.. anyone?, Cod emsemble- No sauce and the presentation was really wamp. I was shocked at how lackadazical the entire delivery was. AND that puff pastry with coffee ice cream disaster was bad, period. Only thing about that that was good was the ice cream and sauce... which I would pressume they didn't make. A restaurant should take this opportunity to put a good foot forward during this time to develop repeat customers. Only good thing is that the front door host were caring and attentive.

Walked in there late last night to have a quick bite to eat. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Mark. I'm happy to say that Mark is the most professional and personable bartender I have ever met. It felt like I was a guest at his home. I will be back as long as Mark is there.

My one and only time and they seemed to have addressed all of the gripes I just read about ie: hot wet towel to wipe my hands after eating, fast food delivery (1,2,3) ,many eyes on me to see if I was needing anything but not stopping unless they got a nod ( I like attention but not having to swallow good food too fast to say all is well) I did however catch a mistake on my bill that was immedeatly rectified. I had the greatest lobster dinner! The oyster appetizer was very flavorful. The huge 2.5 lb lobster was just so sweet I went through 3 hot butters! And then the cheesecake dessert was light and creamy! all washed down by some ice cold Stella Beer. Thank you so much for a most excellent meal before enjoying Janet Jackson down the street at Radio City.

People on this site wine too much. Every restaurant has an off night and tables that run late- I have found the food consistantly good- an above average value- and a great place for seafood in the area. Sure, Valentine's Day service was a bit off but who cares. I have enjoyed this place over and over and frankly appreciate not being rushed through my meal by a waiter trying to turn tables.

I can't be sure it was because it was "restaurant week" but we went for lunch on a Friday and the fixed price menu dishes were just average. But the service was poor. Afte waiting for 20 minutes, we had to flag down the maitre'd to have our drink and food order taken. Then we had to flag someone down for the status of our order after another 20 minutes. The order was prepared incorrectly and had to go back to kitchen. Some of my party needed to take their dishes "to go". The rest of us waited again and had to flag down dessert! They apologized and took care of our bill but I've never been to NYC restaurant that was so neglectful.
