The cheesecake is a must-have!
As a resident of tribeca, I could not be happoer about having City Hall in the neighborhood. It has fantastic food (try their burger!), great service and a really friendly atmosphere in the bar. We have been there a few times and always eat in the bar area. We have had different bartenders each time, and they are all great. On our last visit, the chef brought us the cheesecake to try. Literally the best I have ever had!

Great Time
Went to City Hall Restaurant after daughters wedding for some drinks and a small snack. The service was wonderful they were very nice and attentive. We ordered a bunch of appetizers they were all great and kids meal that was better then anywhere I have gotten my Grandson food and they barely charged for it. They also gave the bride and groom two desserts on the house. The atmosphere was wonderful we were a little warm from walking on a hot day and they turned the airconditioner cooler for us. Overall we all enjoyed and we can't wait for another trip to NYC to go back and have a full meal.

Downtown dream
Amazed. Not only was the food some of the best this native NYer has ever had but the service matched it in spades. It is very refreshing to dine at a well established NY staple that hasn't gotten to big for its britches and started slacking in certain areas. I look foward to my next visit!

Real Review
i work on Wall Street and went there for a work funtion. We had the seafood appetizer, which was pretty good, not great (split 4 ways). I had the dry aged steak for dinner. One of the worst steaks i have had in a while. Literally. Something was way off. I will never go back...even if it is free. I wish I would have listened to the last reviewer

Hit the bottom of the hill!
We lived in the neighborhood when this restaurant opened many years ago. Since 9-11 City Hall has been on a very slippery slope. Now it's hit bottom! Inattentive waiters. Sloppy food. Poor quality meats. Food was awful for the value. Restaurant also lacks the verve it used to have--little dirty around the edges. We ate there recently for brunch and our server was extremely rude. Screwed up three of the five brunch orders with no apology or visit from the managemnet. Unacceptable!! Hot chocolate was cold and forgot to pour coffee. Who forgets coffee at brunch!?! Henry Meer's restaurant needs a makeover! Oh, and I forgot, the entry way foyer in the restaurant was blocked by several strollers. Ridiculous! City Hall is off our list!!!

Extraordinary
This restaurant is near the high end of what I'll visit for lunch, and it's not a place where you'd go along. I took my son here this afternoon and could not have been more delighted. The chef/owner came to our table to welcome us and to make sure we liked the complimentary sample portion of the day's soup. The French beer was a bargain (by Tribeca standards), the food was great, and the service was superb. This is surely the next place I will take my wife when she visits downtown.

not perfect but very close
It is always easy to complain, But what about when a team does a great job. Eating out requires everyone to work together, and at City Hall Restaurant in tribeca that seems to be happening. I have consistently eaten over the last 8 years great meals. Some maybe better than others, but all have shown an committed effort by the restaurant team. Classic NY steak and seafood, respect of all veggies, and all baking (best cheese cake ever) done in house. Hard to complain, and always kid friendly.
