The owner cares so much about his restaurant. The staff is on point when he is not there as well. The staff cleans on down time. The food has never been bad once and I eat there almost every day for the past 4 months. The price is great as well. The cook never lets me down!

Wow... you can't beat that. It's like a Diner but at deli prices. Eggs & cheese on a roll only 2.50, cheese burger and soda 2.99. Gyro and soda 3.99 falafel and soda 4.50 Thats what I call cheap eats at its best quality. I live in the neighborhood and no other place here makes more sense than City Gourmet. I just wish they go back to 24 hours.

I find City Gourmet to be a great place and a great value for breakfast. It is clean, the service is helpful and friendly the food is good and reasonable. Another plus... I can always find a parking spot!

city gourmet has improved greatly over the past couple of months. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful for me. After a long day of work, i need a place to sit and relax and city gourmet is the place. The food is delightful, soothing music and the service is very friendly and cooperative in taking my order. It takes a good staff to run a restaurant/coffee shop, and city gourmet has that good staff. The owner is such a sweetheart and he there to make sure everything is ok for you. I don't know what you so called critics are rambling about. CIty gourmet is the place to relax and enjoy new york.

I don't know what you all are talking about when you say this place is expensive, clearly from the prices you can see that it is not! Their food is very good, and you can custom order just about anything. I agree that when it was a bodega, they had killer egg and cheeses, but now I can custom make it to be anything I want! I get two egg whites with cheese and avocado on whole wheat roll..its amazing, and only about $3.

I was on my way to class, it was about 1 clock in the afternoon I saw this girl putting out the menu sign, and it read "cheeseburger and soda only $2.99". So I went in, (lol) it was like heaven because I only had 10 dollars to my name. I order my cheeseburger and small fries. The girl who works there talked me into buying the Cheeseburger deluxe for only $5.50 at first I was like hell no. Thought about it and got the deluxe. Took about 8 minute to 10 minutes. I must say that was one big cheeseburger and a whole lot of fries with all the right side lettuce and tomatoes and got a cold Pepsi out of the deal. By the way it looks from the outside you would think the food with be small and only costs you your first born child. That was about 2 weeks ago and I eat the maybe 3 time a week. They always got good deals. Dont know much about the other pleople who works there but the girl seem really great.

this was one of my favorite delis/food spots when i was in the city. i went back home last year after the school semester was over. when i returned, i figured i would hit up city gourmet but to my dismay the food was not at all what it used to be. it seemed very "slapped together" and the staff were rude! what happened to this place!?!
