    never been disappointed

I've been to City Crab a quite few times over the last 3 yrs and I never had a bad experience. The service staff is always friendly and they know what they are talking about. The food was always excellent. I usually go for the surf and turf and the steak could not be any better. Some of the famous steak houses cannot keep up with CC. The lobster tail was perfect and they have the best oysters in town. And yes, it's not cheep but the food is worth every penny.

    Just Mediocore

When it was time to give recommendations to the table, our waiter basically recommended everything - everything we asked about was "one of his favorite." I finally asked him if there was anything he wouldn't recommend, he said chicken, which wasn't even on the menu. Then he told us that there were only 2 lobsters left in the entire restaurant so we better put our order in soon. On our way out, there were about half a dozen lobsters still in the tank.... On top of that, the food wasn't very good, edible, but definitely nothing I'd order again.

    Not the greatest seafood

I have eaten here 3 times for business lunches and I have to say, this is not the greatest seafood that I have had. The food was very bland. I mean, it couldn't get any blander than the way the food was prepared. I had the swordfish club on one occasion and then the striped bass on another. It's as if the chef just took the fish and threw it on the grill without adding any value to the flavor of the fish. No herbs, no spices, nothing. Just the taste of the grill. I don't mind spending quality money for quality food, but this is not it.

    Sunday Evening Dining

I had dinner at City Crab this past Sunday evening with my wife and a close friend. After having to move tables because of a disturbance at a nearby table we ordered. I had Sea Scallops, my wife had Jumbo Shrimp and my friend had grilled tuna. The shrimp were not Jumbo, the sea scallops were mediocre and the tuna was small and prepared poorly. We have been going to City Crab for 10 years and this maybe the last time. The prices have gone way up and the quality for what you get is not there at all. If you raise your prices you need to make the food you serve worth it otherwise why bother. There have been a number of better restaurants that have closed recently, I would not be shocked if this one follows.

    Crabby Cakes

Boy was this place a disappointment. I should've listened to my co-workers who insisted that Red Lobster is even better than City Crab. The entire meal was mediocre at best. Calamari was so-so. My crab legs were just okay, definitely have had better. Roasted potatoes came out warm and quickly turned cold. My boyfriend ordered the $32 seafood "platter" which consisted of three shrimp, one crab cake and two scallops....all of which weren't even tasty! How is this place still up and running?! Do yourself a favor and go someplace else if you're craving seafood. Ick.

    Out With Friends

Went here for a last meal before some friends went back to CA. It wasn't crowded and the setting was very nice. I enjoyed my dungeonous crab and potatoes. Everyone liked their drinks as well but did not like how slow the food came out. In all faireness we were pretty hungry before we got there. Best seafood I've had so far in NY. I think you could probably get better value somewhere else though.
