    Disappointing crab cakes

Went there on a Saturday night. I should have known better when we didn't have to wait for a table. Any good resstaurant in NY requires a reservation or at least a 30 min wait on a Saturday. The crab cakes I ordered had shell throughout the crab cake. The oyster Rockerfeller tasted decent but arrived lukewarm. Won't be going back.

    This Place went downhill...

From a celebratory dinner destination to a mediocre fish joint ... I gave this place one last chance & it was worse than ever! The service was very poor! I was seated & not greeted / approached / given water, etc. for a full 15 minutes. The waitstaff all look bored & po'd just to be there. My order was wrong (as I knew it would be - no eye contact), and the food is subpar & overpriced.

    Rude and bland

I went for lunch and the New England clam chowder was a total disappointment. It was watery, not creamy, and the clams were tiny hardened bits of what seemed like rubber blobs. The runner who brought the bread practically threw it on the table. The waitress was fine. I then ordered the lobster cobb salad. When you offer lobster, it should be tender and have that sweet evanescence that only freshly made can provide. Sadly, the lobster had no flavor. I could understand a non-seafood restaurant making errors like this but not one with the City Crab moniker. When coffee is served the handle is supposed to be in the 3:00 position. But how could I expect the service to be and good if the food wasn't up to par?

Food is solid, service is lousy

Had reservation for 5 at 9PM on Saturday. Got there 5mins early to be told our table won't be ready for another 15 mins. Thought it was odd since the restaurant was only about half full at best. Waited 20 mins still wasn't asked to sit down. I asked again, and was told this was due to only 4 of us having gotten there. I found this annoying since I already told him one of us will be late and we would like to sit. He begrudgingly let us sit down. Food was okay. They broke a plate full of glass right next to our table and some of us didn't finish our salad since we thought it was possible that broken glass could have landed in our food. Bill came and they thought it was fitting to add 20% tip on top for a table of 5. I guess they have to do things like this since they probably get really lousy tips for their crappy service. Too many good restaurants in this city to go back to Citycrab.

The "birthday dinner" kind of place

I love, love, loveeeeeee crab. So for my birthday my boyfriend and I went here and had a spectacular time. Really great service, amazing crab, and not as pricey as I would've thought. They also supposidly have a great happy hour special but I have never been. Don't miss it, a great place to take non-New Yorkers as well.

    Very good place.

City Crab can get really really busy, especially on a hot night out like Thursday or Friday. When it does, it becomes a real scene and it's hard to appreciate it because the place gets kinda nuts. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with two floors and the second overlooking the first. The food here is very good, but not mind-blowing. It's a bit pricey, but hey, It's on Park Avenue! The staff are friendly and everything is pretty good. I've always had a nice meal here. I just have to point out the person below being disappointed that her cocktail sauce had some weird Horseradish taste... Uh, lady... THAT'S WHAT COCKTAIL SAUCE IS! (LOL). Recommended.

    Great service, ehhh food

I went recently bc I had a coupon and was rather excited about getting some fresh seafood. I got the lobster tail and while the portion was nice, the lobster was basically tasteless. Even dipping it in butter didnt help much. But the accompanying vegetables were delicious, as were the cocktails. Service was fantastic as well. Probably won't go back though...
