Just Medicore
I went a few nights ago with my girlfriend and I weren't really impressed. I had the fish which was just so-so. Considering this is a seafood place I expected a lot more. My girlfriend had steak, which she surprisingly really liked. I don't think I'd go back, but I have to admit the server was very nice and the brownie dessert was quite good.

Comfort and Great Service
My boyfriend and I had our second dinner here this past Saturday night. The hostess was very gracious and sat us immediately even though we were an hour late for our reservations (my boyfriend had called and warned her we'd be late). Overall, the service was excellent; our waitress was wonderful and attentive, and the food is delicious. All in all, it's a great experience. We love it because inside you really don't feel like you're in New York.

Overcharging
City Crab is a nice restaurant if you like seafood, unfortuantely they have a few hidden costs that they don't tell you until you get your bill. I'd scrutinize everything when ordering. I have been there 4 times and this was my last.

Great crabs at Restaurant Week Prices
We met friends here because we wanted blue crabs in the Maryland style (white paper on the table, mallets and crackers, lots of Old Bay Seasoning) and don't often see them served like that around NYC since Sidewalkers closed years ago. We were hesitant about the place due to some of the reviews writen here. Well either we hit it right last night or the folks who slammed the place hit it wrong. For NYC Restaurant Week prices ($30.04 for dinner) we had great appetizers (Gazpacho, Oysters Rockefeller) and some awesome blue claws! They were large, sweet, and juicy with lots of Old Bay. We also had an al a carte oyster sampler which consisted of 3 each of 4 different oysters, both Atlantic and Pacific, which were as good as the ones we had at the Grand Central Oyster Bar last week. My wife's order of sauteed Soft Shell Crabs (alas not available as a restaurant week special) were also very good. The desserts, a decent brownie sundae and a mediocre mango creme brulee were a small letdown but all in all we were very pleasently surprised by the food. The waiter could have been a bit more attentive and had a bit less attitude, but I find that to be a common complaint in the moderate range of restaurants in Manhattan. I would recommend this place to anyone, who like us, is looking for good crabs at a reasonable price in NYC.
