Out-of-towner looking for a New York experience during restaurant week. The setting was spectacular, the food was above average and the service was deplorable. Our server was simply a delivery man, offered no social overhead, never inquired of our dining experience, delivered the bill and left without a word. Have been in NYC for five days and know this isn't the norm......thankfully. Will not be coming back.

The space is fantastic and the food is perfect. It is not a spot for a culinary experience but for a good meal, midtown with spectacular view this is it.

I went there for restaurant week 2012. The appetizer was supposed to be prosciutto with mozzarella. The proscuitto was more like paper thin sliced ham. If it was prosciutto, it was of a very low quality. The portion was quite substantial so I know that it was not prosciutto that I was served. The entree of tagliardi with veal was just OK as was my friend's chicken spezzatino which was on the bland side. Desserts were it's only redemption as was the ambiance of Grand Central Station. The restaurant was also quite chilly from the draft coming from the doors on Vanderbilt Avenue.

the rib steak seemed to be left over prime rib that was reheated and also it was of low quality grade of meat. It is a shame that this is a place that vistiors first encounter on their arrival in a city that is filled with great restaurants . The place should go to up and coming chefs who really represent what New York world class dining is about! This place is a bad hustle and reflects poorly on the city and people of New York!

Went there for restaurant week. The menu was totally different, so we all decided to have hamburgers. They screwed up our orders, I had to send mine back and then they screwed it up again. I asked for the check and it took a very long time. We were all very disappointed. I won't go there again.

Cipriani Dolci, is not so much about the wonderful food, as it is for the historic architecture of The Grand Central Terminal which makes it so special. As one sits and dines, you think about how unbelievable that this beautiful Beaux-Arts beauty was slated for demolition! We all owe our gratitude to Jacqueline Kennedy and the many others who worked to save and preserve this structure. I'm sure an experience at the resto is dependent upon what time you dine there and also one's attitude. After all, it is a train terminal with many travelers, commuters winding down after work or meeting for business. The resto is located in the open, so I imagine during peak periods it can become quite noisy. I was lucky enough to have a good friend take me to dinner there for my bon anniversaire! Around 9:00 pm, there is much less activity in the terminal and within the restaurant area which allows for civil conversation. Also, the attention from wait staff is much more evident. I think the food is great! For starters, we shared the Tuna Tartare with mache salad. The order was served on two plates with portion sizes so large we thought the waiter had mistakenly given us two separate orders This was delicious especially when drizzled with the tuna sauce! For our entrees, we both had the Half Free Range Chicken with peperonata...just lovely! The chicken was seasoned well, moist and had a very light crunchy skin. It was a very enjoyable meal! We were so full from our main courses that dessert was not needed. The resto will run you a pretty penny, but given the portions, tastes, and ambience, it makes it worthwhile.

Stopped here for a drink at the bar while waiting for a friend who was arriving by train. I sat at the bar since I was only having drinks and was surrounded by very loud talking men on their blackberries trying to impress everyone by talking about their business deals. The bar (cocktail) menu was unimpressive. The bartender didn't speak English very well and even though I ordered a drink off their menu, I had to repeat my order several times because he was having a hard time understanding me. And when I got the drink, it wasn't good. I wish I would have gone somewhere else instead - this was a waste of time and money. I rated the food as a "2" based only the "snacks" at the bar area - Greasy cracked wheat crackers
