    annoying

this place is weird, it's been there for a while and several years ago made a transformation to be more upscale. the menu is kind of all over the place and that leads me to view everything on it with suspicion. I had the Cobb salad and it was good. My boyfriend had a pizza which tasted like it could have been frozen. wine costs a staggering $9 for a glass. i mean, what the hell. i know this is america and all, and wine isn't considered a part of the meal as it is in other countries, but why must restaurants gouge us diners? it turned me off and I will not bother going back. it's not a fancy enough restaurant to warrant those prices. the food isn't high quality enough. our waitress was really sweet though.

The best service in NYC!! Although...

Went to Cinema this summer with my wife and it was too busy, no tables available, so we decided to set at the bar. It was the best thing we did. The best Bartender i've ever seen. She was so polite, nice, funny and gave us the perfect service (Cant remember her name, but she was from Brazil). My wife had the best Cosmopolitan ever and i had the Watermelon Mojito, recommended by her. It was amazing! We had the Steak Martini for an appetizer, than my wife had a Steak Salad and i had the chicken with mashed potatoes. All recommended by her. She was right, it was delicious! Well, we were too sad when we came back last night and were told that she's no longer working there anymore. Too bad for Cinema, cause we did not had the perfect service she gave us. :(

    Disappointed

I came to Cinema Cafe with a friend for lunch, and was excited by the menu. We ordered the Fries appetizer which we were told was bigger and better than the side of fries offered...it wasn't. The fries seemed as if they were previously frozen...I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad which was $18 and totally not worth it. The tuna was overcooked and the salad was extremely bland. Although I only took a few bites, I was never asked if it was okay or if anything was wrong. And although our server was nice, he was extremely inattentive and we had to flag him down after 15 minutes of waiting for our check. I am in the service industry myself, and the management at the Cinema Cafe need to require more out of their staff. Our server’s menu knowledge was not good and the service was bad. Better servers equal a better restaurant. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

    No longer a loyal customer

my friends and i used to go once a week..and now it is just disappointing..the food is great ..but the service is not! Not only are the waiters rude, but they are also extremely unattentive. The past 3 waiters I've had have not been good. we are very disappointed.. :(

    Used to be Better

They just changed their menu and it's not good. Cinema used to be a great place to get a simple dinner that's better than your typical diner food. Now, they are trying to be fancy, but it's just not working. The food is just not good. Such a shame.

    Sleeper!

I have eaten at cinema tens of times, at both locations. While the UES location 70s/2nd has a better menu, better bread & spread, etc., this location is servicable. The prices are great, food is consistent each visit. This is my complete go-to for a quick, relatively cheap dinner.
