A Nice Surprise
I don't typically review restaurants, however I had such a pleasurable experience tonight at Cilantro that I needed to let the internet community know. Off the bat, the atmosphere had a fun feeling and yet I was able to relax into a chair right by the open doors. The chips and Pico De Gallo were FRESH FRESH FRESH and very tasty. The meal came (I opted for the Adobe Steak Fajita and my girlfirend the Shrimp Fajita) and we were greated with a tasty dinner and ample Guacamole, Sour Cream and Pico De Gallo. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. To seal the deal - the prices were very palatable. Luckily we don't live too far and will definitely make this our Southwestern/Mexican restaurant of choice going forward.

Typical UWS Restaurant
I'm always desperate to find some decent Mexican in this city, so I'm open to trying anything once even if the menu doesn't look that interesting. The food was fine, but no better than any Mexican food anywhere else in the city. (Though the chips were exciting and new, the salsa was a bit dull.) Service can be summed up in this conversation taking place twenty minutes after we ordered. Waiter: How was everything? Us: We haven't eaten anything. Waiter: Oh. Let me check on that. I guess mistakes happen, but it didn't leave the best (first) impression on us. I would consider going back, but in reality, I probably won't.

Unexepectedly pleasing brunch
We were wandering around the UWS, happened upon this place & enjoyed a very pleasant brunch. We were lured in by Cilantro's prices (lower than some of the nearby restaurants) & open-front atmosphere. The food served was yummy - they offered a nice Tex-mex take on usual brunch favorites. They had those tasty cinnamon crisps on the table (forgot what those are called). Service was nice but would've liked to have seen salt & pepper on the tables (we finished eating before we had a chance to ask). Overall, a nice experience, we'd definitely return.
