    Montezuma's treasure

This restaurant plays great Latin music throughout the day. They have great service which makes a person feel the service is tailored to each individual. The food is amazing, especially the guacamole, but overall the food is delicious. We have been going for the past 2 years and everytime its a great experience. The Mango Margarita pitcher on the rocks is the best, we always have 2 pitchers-its' amazing. If you are returning customer, they remember you and give you extra quality treatment. It's a wonderful place.

    Frozen food & salty, too

The food IS frozen if you were wondering. Mine was delivered to the table frozen. Should have left but wanted my margarita. Waiter took it back to be microwaved. Tasted it...disappointing! Save your enchiladas, go somewhere else.

    One of our favs

We love Cilantro. The margaritas are excellent, you can order by pitcher or glass. We love the chips and salsa with dried plantain and veggie chips. The guacamole is excellent. Their soups are usually very good, especially the seafood soups. I love the chicken fajita served fresh and piping hot with freshly grilled veggies. The service is also excellent and the restaurant is priced fairly reasonably.

    we finally gave up

First time we ate here I ordered a fish special that was fresh and excellent. The last year or so, the food has been terrible. Fish obviously frozen and microwaved. We tried the $10 fajita nite and couldn't eat the steak (so tough a knife wouldn't cut it) and chicken was barely edible. We like the drinks and service but the food keeps getting worse. Seems like they make it in advance, freeze it and thaw. We gave up eating here.

    UWS Mexican Gem

We ate, we drank, we conquered. Food was delicious as was the pitcher of margaritas. Queso fundito was out of this world and the chicken and blue corn tortilla enchaladas were great as well! Will most definitely be coming here again.

    fine but bland

The food here isn't necessarily bad -- everything seems to be reasonably fresh and good-quality. But this is not real Mexican food. None of the salsas have any spiciness whatsover, and most of the dishes are bland and boring, like something you might find at an airport. This place is clearly designed for people who like the idea of Mexican food/margaritas but can't tolerate spice, flavor, or innovation. It's also good for people who need a family-friendly place: it's always packed with kids, and the lack of flavor means that even the most sensitive of children could eat anything on the menu. Prices are high for what you get. Service is fine and decor is nice enough, but with so many other Mexican places in NY, the only reason to go here is if you're dining with someone who dislikes real Mexican cooking.

    Subpar

The food is subpar and so the drinks. Starting from the fajitas which are dry and tough. The seafood is just not fresh and poorly cooked. The salsa is not authentic. Coconut shrimps come burnt and the fried calamari have a strange texture. This combined with drinks of industrial quality makes Cilantro a bad choice.
