    Unpleasant experience

I'm not one to write bad reviews, but my experience (WHICH WAS JUST TAKE OUT) was ridiculous. I ordered a chicken burrito for pick up. I walked in and there was no waitstaff in the front of the store, though there were people at tables. I waited in the front for five minutes. I find a bus boy and he calls the waiter who finally comes and helps me. I pay him with a $20, the meal was 8.71. He gives me back $11 dollars and walks away. I'm not one to complain but he did not give me back any change. and frankly that pissed me off. I'm like excuse me sir, what about my change. He rolls his eyes at me, goes behind the counter and seriously throws 6 nickels on the counter towards me. I commented on why he's throwing the money at me and he just rolled his eyes again. The burrito was soggy, and tasted like a wrap with pieces of grilled chicken and sour cream. Hardly any rice, beans OR guac. SERIOUSLY? How hard is it to be decent?

    A so-so experience...

We went for $10 fajita night, and we got our $10 fajitas, which was a pretty good value. I loved the mixtures of chips and plaintains, but the pico de gallo was far too salty. I found myself eating the chips to get the salt taste out of my mouth. I ordered the adobo steak fajita and asked for medium... the steak came back very rare, almost purple in spots. The server said he would tell the waitress, but did not take away my plate. After several minutes, we had to get the waitress's attention on our own, and then when my steak came back, it was charred and very tough -- but tasted pretty good, I guess. I asked for medium and never got it. Also, the fajitas are supposed to come with pico de gallo, but we had to ask for that as well. Besides all that, I enjoyed my dinner -- the guacamole was delicious.

    Meh, it's okay

I don't really see what the big deal is about this restaurant. I went on the recommendation of a few friends and I wasn't that impressed. It's overpriced for what it is. The service was not good and it was a Saturday night! Had to flag someone down everytime we needed something. Had the beef tacos. They were okay. The shell was kind of tasteless though. The green sauce they serve with them is good.

    good, not great

I love meeting friends at the bar at Cilantro to watch televised games. I've tried most flavors of the frozen margaritas & I've yet to taste one that I like. They sure are strong, though. Whoa. They usually have tasty drink specials & the bartenders are friendly & hospitable. The food is a mixed bag. I love the blue corn pancakes they sometimes have for brunch. The roast pork & sweet potato hash is nasty - I ordered it to-go, so I couldn't complain. It was so salty I threw it out. The green chile enchiladas are yummy & I like the quesadillas. The flan is pretty good too. It's a fun place, but I find that it usually smells funny (a bit like the odor of a dirty dishrag), especially in the back area.

    Tasty, affordable Tex-Mex

I like everything about this UES neighborhood restaurant... except that the table service is a bit weak. It's not that the waiters are unfriendly; they just seem to be a bit inattentive, often forgetting requests for more drinks, salsa and chips. Those should really be no-brainers in a Tex-Mex restaurant. My favorite dish is the Chicken Enchiladas, though I wish they'd add a beef or steak version for variety. Otherwise, it's one of my favorite restaurants on the UES.

    Good SW on the NE

I've been eating here for years and tried most dishes of which all were good... you get a good bang for your buck here and the food is fresh and tasty.

Go for the margaritas and the chips

The margaritas and the chips were excellent. Mine was frozen strawberry with salt, and the people I was with enjoyed both the regular frozen with salt and the frozen strawberry without. They have plantain chips there that are unlike any others I've had. They're very good, especially with the guacamole (good as well). The fajitas were decent, as was the rest of the mexican fare. The service was decent, as was the atmosphere. The value was ok, but it seemed a tad expensive for mexican food.
