Thoughts from a regular
Cilantro is one of my favorite local spots on the UES. The margaritas are awesome, the food is fresh, and the atmosphere is great for a low-key night out with friends. The guacamole and fajitas are a must, but bring your appetite because the portions are huge (I usually share an entree). Sit at the bar for better service, but keep in mind that the setup at the bar is not great for a large group. And for those nights when you don't feel like cooking, delivery orders are just as good and usually arrive on your doorstep in less than 30 minutes.

Ugh!
Cafeteria presentation is more stylish; food is bland, overcooked but copious; beverages are mediocre; service is erratic; decor is tasteless; why bother?

Food has improved
My opinion of the food at Cilantro was so-so at best. Until last night. The Chicken & Blue Corn Tortilla was amazing. The chicken was a very good quality white meat and served with the green chili sauce, it had a nice kick to it. The mango/regular combo margaritas were great. I'll definitely be going back for this meal.

Mild
The food is average, the prices are average for the UES, but the atmosphere improves the experience because of the summertime indoor/outdoor seating and low lighting. The menu selection was small and the food had a unique twist on the traditional but the taste was bland. BUT their margaritas are strong :)

Go for the mussels
Their mussels are served in a chipotle sauce and it works. Must try. Everything else is just nice.

Great Adobo Steak Fajitas
I've had these steak fajitas several times, it's the best thing on the menu. Definitely a fun atmosphere, great neighborhood find.

service good, food bad...esp for the $
The service was good and polite. However, the food was not. The chicken tortilla soup tasted bad and the shrimp wrap was bland...the only thing good were the french fries.
