In my last 12 years of life i have lived in 3 different states, gone to countless restaurants and so far Cilantro is the best. in the last apartment i lived in we had it maybe 2 times a month, now i have it about 3-4 times a month. i recently went to Mexico and the food at cilantro is better also the fajitas are the best dish they have

We gave gone here at least once a week for the last 5 years - the food is very good and the drinks are even better. The staff is great and as regulars they make us feel special. Over all it's a great place to dine, and reasonably priced. The "Frozengritas" - (red sangria mixed with frozen margarita), are to die for. Best Tex-Mex around by far.

Living nearby, my girlfriend and I have been looking for good Mexican. Cilantro decidedly does not fit that description. The fajitas were bland and undercooked. The free chips were on the stale side and the salsa had way too much onion in it. Further, the portions were quite small compared to other Mexican resturants. In addition other Mexican restaurants on the island aren't quite as expensive. Neither of us drinks so I can't comment on their bar which did seem to be quite busy for a Friday at 6:30. To their credit, our waitress was nice and got out order out to us quickly (and correctly).

The food and service is outsanding. The best Mexican in this area of the UES. Everyone is so cordial and professional. Have tried nearly every item on the menu and have never been let down. Try this restaurant and you will be hooked! It's great!

I don't know where you ate if you truly have something bad to say about Cilantro's food and service. It's right around the corner where I live so I've been there plenty. The servers are always attentive, they are always there to clean plates away or refill your glass just when you need it. The food service is exceptionally quick and the food is soo good. My favorite is the chicken enchiladas, and the chorizo fundido is sinful....definitely try it out...the atmosphere is great for fun groups or for a romantic date...and the price is a great value. Plus, the margaritas are huge and yummy!

the monday night fajita special is a great deal - $10 (or 12 for steak) gets you a huge order of fajitas. the chips and salsa (free!) are also reliably exellent, and the red sangria is dangerously good. they charge an annoying $5 surcharge to split an order of fajitas, but it's usually worth it, since the portions are so enormous.

The brunch menu at Cilantro is really good w/my fave: eggs benedict with either avocado or chipotle hollandaise - divine! As are the pomegranate margaritas. Usually not crowded either. Worth giving it a try in my opinion.... Especially for the money (between $8 and $11 for a substantial brunch).
