Great margaritas!
This place is great. I heard about it from a friend and had to check it out. I went last weekend on a saturday night. I was able to get a reservation just a few hours before arriving. The servers were all very friendly and the margaritas are excellent! I will definitely be going back.

3 Milks Cake, Ole!
On the basis of it's 4-star rating, we headed to Cilantro for a meal tonight. The meal was great, and although the waiter made a joke about us not ordering any margaritas, he helpfully explained the dessert options. I opted for the Tres Leches Cake (3 milk cake) which apparently involves normal milk, a mexican milk and a sweet milk. It was chilled and delicious! Helpfully, there is a poster on the wall which explains what to do if someone is choking.

Great Mushroom Quesadillas...
Noticing its always packed, we stopped in to try. Great Guac made to your liking, blue corn battered calamari, and great 3 mushroom quesadilla that tasted earthy and melts in your mouth. All for under $35 in NYC. Heard the drinks are awesome. 4.5 outta 5...

Great Gazpacho
On a recent visit to Sloan, I researched nearby restaurants and was pleased to find Cilantro. The chunky gazpacho was great as was the hangar steak special ordered by my husband. Waiters were cordial and attentive and one margarita made me giggle. Loved it!

Not worth it
The only reason we would back to Cilantro is if we're in the area and need a good happy hour. At the bar between 4-7 you can get half priced margaritas. They're actually not good, however they're huge and they're strong! The only saving grace on the food is the Fajita Monday special... all fajitas for $9.99. I got the shrimp fajitas, and the shrimp was totally overcooked and very small. I did enjoy the option to get whole wheat tortillas, and I loved the fried plantains and salsa on the table. The hostess was sweet and attentive, but our server was clearly annoyed by our 6 top all ordering fajitas. He was rude and let us know immediately that he would not take more than 2 credit cards. The rest of the menu is totally overpriced and not worth it. Which is a shame because the atmosphere is fun and festive!

strange service
I live about a block from the place and used to go quite often. However, lately, particularly at lunch, it seems that I have to ask for things like water, coffee, chips, chipotle mayo, etc. at least twice. The waitstaff is pleasant but it is quite annoying to constantly have to request basic items more than once.
