once good now bleh
ciao for now used to do things right, now their sandwiches are made sloppily and their service is unfitting of east village hipsters. There baked goods are still worthy.

Caio for now is my favorite!
All i know is: I bring as much ciao for now I can pack with me... I crave this place every time I leave... & The best thing... when I come back, it is all displayed beautifully, hot out of the oven, for my choosing first thing in the morning. And, it's always better than I remember, never fails! The best way to welcome yourself home;) Ahhh...12th St!!!

A great place
I love this place. It makes my day everyday. The staff is wonderful and the food is always fresh and delicious. Whoever referred to the "place across the street full of junk" might not realize it is the junk of the creepy landlord and not owned by the Ciao's. Get your facts straight before you criticize a kind, hard working family!

Jumped the shark
This place used to be a favorite, but then they raised their prices (in addition to now charging sales tax!), cut the portion sizes, and can't even be bothered to post their hours on their website or--the last time I went over there in the morning to find them not open yet--the door of the shop! If they're so broke they have to reduce portion sizes & raise prices, why don't they clean the furniture and junk out of their old location across the street and stop paying rent on a storefront they're just using for storage anyway? Once a regular haunt, Ciao for Now is now just an occasional indulgence for me.

Super sweet east village fav
I love this local restaurant and bakery. It's the perfect neighborhood hangout complete with organic everything. The carrot cake cupcakes and flourless chocolate cake are amazing!

Great tasting food, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere
Ciao for Now is THE definition of your friendly neighborhood coffee shop - first of all, it has excellent coffee (to the point where I asked them who their supplier was) and a great variety of teas. Their food is also amazing - delicious pastries and sweets, and their savory food is well flavored and portioned. You can tell that they put a lot of thought into coming up with their recipes, and making sure that the finished product makes their customers happy. It's great for breakfast muffins, wraps, sandwiches (especially their tuna melt), and now even has a brunch menu. I have to admit I haven't tried it yet, but if it's anything like the rest of their food, I'm sure it is yummy. To top it all off, their staff is always friendly and greets everyone with a smile. I promise I'm not promoting them, I really just love Ciao for Now this much! If you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a visit.
