    very happy!

As a self proclaimed "foodie", I chase big openings like dogs chase postmen. That being said, I've seen it all as far as experiences go at new restaurants. I've seen great and I've seen horrible - this my friends can not be rated as a new restaurant! If I hadn't been following, I would never had known that it was new by the way evryone was so knowledgable, the servers, the greeting staff, the bussers......and oh, the FOOD! The meatballs are as good as I've ever had. The service was conducted with purpose - no bodies hanging around trying to figure out their next move. The wine list was well thought out especially by the glass. The fireplace made me want to come back with my partner ;) I guess Ciano is the right place to share with people you like!! Can't wait to come back! Now I hope they have room for me!

Amazing! my boyfriend and i went to Ciano last week, as soon as we got there the staff greeted us so warm. the fire place so romantic. the bread fresh and warm, amazing wine selection, they helped us pick perfect bottle of wine to go with our meal. the veal meatballs wow Delicious!!! pasta was great. cant wait to go back next week. by far the best Italian restaurant. i already sent friends there. great job guys keep it up.

    Great Food and Atmosphere

The food and ambiance at Ciano sets it apart. We had a great experience and the dishes were excellent. Shea Gallante does a tremendous job putting time and thought behind each plate. My family will be back soon.

    Can't wait to return ~

I was recently at Ciano and couldn't have had a more opposite experience (than the other reviewers) posted here. We were seated promptly (considering it is a new restaurant and was already packed) and from the moment the warm bread arrived and our entrees (papardelle with duck bolognese) we were engrossed in the experience of Ciano. The atmosphere, wait staff, sommelier were all great. The desserts and the wine pairing was spot on. I loved it and can't wait to return :)

    Best in NYC

One word: Incredible! Every single thing is perfection. Walked right into the place and immediately seated (had reservation), waiters are very polite and extremely fast; always had what i wanted. The menu is amazing with every Italian dish, plus more you can think of. Every single thing myself and my party ordered was perfect! Not to mention the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful! Great place, different from anywhere in the city.

    Has potential

My review is similar to others. Regarding service, there was a blurred line between snooty and unprepared. After declining the hostess to check our coats, we were asked by two other employees after, having to continue to decline multiple times. I was taken back that they tried the flat or sparkling water trick, never offering tap. Very unprofessional and pompous. Following this, I was told that most guests usually start with a cocktail then move to wine. Thank you, but haven't you only been open for a little over a week? And yes, I think i know my own pace of drinking. Lastly, they recommend sharing the menu to get a taste for everything, but then don't bring out the food separated in advance, or on small dishes. It was difficult to fit two appetizers on the table with all the other plates. Besides for these instances, the staff was tentative and helpful, and always gave positive recommendations. I'll discount these actions to the lack of experience of a one week old place. On to the food; the veal meatballs are amazing. I would pass on the calamari salad and Proscuitto San Daniele (fatty and too thick..it was more like uncooked bacon). I would prefer to not have truffle butter with the bread, as it took away from the two dishes with truffle. I would have tried the gnocchi, but my palet was already overstimulated from the truffle butter. The Pappardelle with duck bolognese was great. The Crispy Skin Lemon-Rosemary Chicken with a ragu of chanterelle mushrooms & farro was a great choice. The chicken was very tender, and the sides complimented it well, although it could have used a little more flavor from the sauce. Overall, the place can turn around to be a hit if they tweak some of their new restaurant bugs.

    De ja vue

I just read 11/11/10 review titled 'Poor Experience'. I thought EG was sitting at our table of six on 11/7/10. We experienced the same but without the free cocktail to help with the pain. After 35 minutes to get our first drink and one hour to get our food that came to the table cold...all six entrees. The entire $650.00, less tip. dining experience was a disaster. On our way out, the mgr. or owner - not sure because he would not identify himself was upset because he did not like our comments. After saying to him that if he continues to run his business this way he won't be open in 12 months, his comment back was "don't worry we have a 15 yr. lease" He just did not get it...
