The food was delicious and so plentiful. The atmosphere was really fun and inviting. Definitely recommend for a night out. Just be sure to bring your appetite!

My wife and I picked this place, after much research, to celebrate my new job, and it is top notch. The meat was phenomenal, even better than we expected. We asked for package #4, which we thought was only a group special but it seems not, it gives you unlimited wine and beer (inc. Hoegaarden). The atmosphere was great, very lively, the staff are out of this world, extremely attentive and friendly. Even when we were finished eating we were left to finish our wine, and even order another cheeky beer or two. DO NOT fill up on the salad bar, my advice: ignore it altogether. It's good, but the meat is better. The sides are excellent too, i personally really liked the fried bananas. Overally, the value was better than expected, we were there for almost 3 hours, and we left very full, very tipsy/drunk, and extremely satisfied...................

Went here after reading the many positive reviews. However, I was extremly disappointed. Yes there was a lot of food and variety however it all tasted the same. Everything tasted like salty meat that was barely edible. Also very expensive for what you get. It seemed to be a very touristy place and I can see why after going. If you are in the mood for meat try any other decent steak place in the city. Bill came out to 130 for nothing other than the food and tip no drinks, nothing.

My children decided to take my wife and me out for my birthday. The restaurant was going to be a surprise and I thought it would be on the upper west side where my son lives. So I drove in to the city from Long Island. Plenty of traffic to pick up the family in the 80's and then much more when I had to drive downtown. Glad to say it was all worth it. Saturday night and the place was packed, maybe 30-40 people waiting. We had a reservation of course and were seated only a half hour late. I thought that was reasonable. The salad bar was terrific but we were warned not to fill up. Once the main meal started I commented that this restaurant just became my all time favorite. It was just so much fun. Our captain was very attentive, the food was non-stop and delicious. All the meats were tender and juicy and each piece I received was cooked exactly the way I like it, medium rare. I usually don't like to stuff myself but at this place I said to myself, why not, I didn't want the meal to end. I ate until I couldn't eat any more. Then I tried to eat some more anyway. Even the sides were fabulous. The mashed potatoes and fried bananas were incredible. Perhaps the best part was I didn't have to pay for dinner and I still don't know how much it cost my wonderful children. We all left content and I've asked them to make reservations for next years as soon as they can.

Pros: Terrific food and very good service. Decent table spacing. Cons: Salad bar is packed- can take 15 - 20 minutes to negotiate (you MUST start at the beginning and work your way around even if the item you want is at the very end). Very noisy. You'll eat much more than you normally would, so don't have lunch. Overall: Recommended, expect to pay around $100 per person with a few drinks, tax and tip.

I've been here3 or 4 times and have every intention of returning. I was introduced to it by a friend and I have passed the word onto other friends. My first time I was there early on a Friday night and it wasnt too crowded, but the next time was a Saturday night and we had to wait about 20 minutes but it was worth it. I have never eaten so much in my life. Every imaginable type of meat. Dont fill up on appetizers because you wont have room for the main meal. I dont know what the desserts are like because I've never had room to eat any!

I've been to Plataforma twice. The first time, I was skeptical because I am always skeptical of the food quality of buffet-type restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised to find that every cut of meat that came our way was delicious - well-seasoned, juicy and often succulent. The salad bar is impressive, but don't go to a Brazillian restaurant for sushi. The best offering at the salad bar was the octopus. Having had such an enjoyable experience, I told all my friends about it and couldn't wait to go back. 2 years later, I brought my family, and most of the cuts of meat were dry. I was a little embarassed to have been that enthusiastic about it. The salad bar was the same - decent, impressive in range, but not spectacular. Not eager to go back again and spend that amount of money to risk eating dry meat. However, both times, the door men were very good looking ;-)
