no atmosphere and they are ridiculous on the phone & when you walk in it's super high intensity and lots of yelling, but good good food & very inexpensive.

The Spareribs and Boneless spare ribs are the best I've had in years. The Chicken Chow Mein is delicious. With prices rising everywhere, this food is a good value, with generous portions, enuf for 2.

We have come to rely on Christopher Golden Wok, and actually now crave it. It's exactly like the food we used to get in China Town when our families would take us there for dinner on Sunday afternoons. So, much so that we sort of swoon remembering back with each taste. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce is great. Their Chicken Chow Mein is first rate. The prices are really good. Our son loves the Sesame Chicken, Egg Rolls and Wonton soup. It's a small, hole in the wall, take-out place we've passed by and over for years. But we always saw people there waiting for food, and finally after hearing favorable things about it from a friend, we tried it. Yes, there are others more upscale and sophisticated Chinese places still around, but we're born and bread Manhattanites. We're bored with sophisticated. This is the Wonder Bread and Velveta Cheese of Chinese Food. It tastes great and reminds you of the good old days, and it's priced accordingly. The delivery is prompt and brought to you by an older gentleman, who you can tell, also works in the kitchen, and is grateful for the tip you give him, unlike the stoic dead eyed delivery men from other places. This is a solid, sincere place with a long standing following, which we've now joined.

I'm usually not picky about food, but this food wasn't that great. Not to mention how tough the pork was . . . . I mean, it's not a horrible place, but it's way overrated on here. Plus, the delivery took 40 minutes, not 15 like in the other reviews.

The food at this takeout place is decent. It is what it is, and to be fair many of the dishes are better prepared than at some other local places. Value and speed are the main attractions, and also the guy who work there are very nice. If you're hungry and strapped for cash and time, this is the way to go.

My husband and I ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time, after looking at menupages for a Chinese takeout place in the neighborhood that we hadn't already tried. We were very pleasantly surprised. After years of watery, tasteless won ton soup from most takeout places, I couldn't believe how good the soup was here. Rich chicken broth, with large pieces of pork and greens. We ordered moo goo gai pan, pepper steak and shrimp with lobster sauce, all of which were vastly superior to any that we had gotten from other places in the Village. the shrimp tasted fresh, not like it had been frozen for a year. We also appreciated the extras we received, like ginger cookies, along with the usual fortune cookies, and two cans of soda. All that for $l6.00, plus tip. I have to say that the service was a bit slow -- 35 minutes to go six blocks -- but that could probably be explained by the fact that it was dinnertime on a Friday night, and they were probably very busy. I've never actually been to Christopher Golden Woks, so I have no idea of the atmosphere. This will definitely be our takeout Chinese restaurant from now on.

I've grown up with this chinese food. Its always been right across the street and its been a great rainy night or quick meal type of place. Everything is really good. My regular is chicken with mixed vegetables which is fool proof. The hot and sour soup is to die for and you can get it vegetarian. Basically the chinese food is GOOOOD.
