    Not recommended

Got a salad delivered from what I was told is the 'best salad place in the area.' wow..no. One hour fifteen minutes. and $13 later a soggy salad soaking in a pool of overpowering dressing finally found it's way to me. But that was the highlight. This salad was just not good.

    Manage your expectations!

People, let's get our expectations in line here please: You're NOT going to Chop't for the atmosphere or to make best friends with the people making your salad. What you go to Chop't for is the astoundingly fresh ingredients. Is it the cheapest salad in the area? No. But if there's somewhere in the Union Square area with fresher/equally fresh ingredients at a lower price, tell me where and I'll go there tomorrow. *DO* go to Chop't for great dressings and super-fresh ingredients. *DON'T* go to Chop't if you're on a tight budget and/or timeline and are looking for a relaxing, sit-down experience.

Good food - everything else ... hmmmm

Chop't is great salads. We all agree on that. However, everything else leaves plenty to be desired. From the crazed customer-service-challenged staff to the overhot overcrowded "seating" in the area, you're certainly not going there for the experience. So you think - hey, I'll just order in! In the last 6 times I have ordered delivery from them, all 6 times they have screwed up my order. Managerial staff is pleasant enough, but ultimately giving you $4 off your next order (which they will forget about when you order next) isn't really such an incentive for a screwed up lunch. Especially when the salads average $10 to $12 apiece - $4 off, gee thanks! So do yourself a favor - if you crave a salad and yes, Chop't salads are good enough that you will crave them specifically, go ahead and walk over to 17th street and stand in line, make sure they get your order correct - and then get out quickly! Only then can you enjoy what Chop't brings to the table.

    Great Salad

Been coming to Chop't for a few years now. Though the lines at lunch time are always long, and if you want to sit inside you gotta keep your eyes peeled for table vacators. The staff is always friendly while under huge stress to make salads for loads of people waiting (sometime impatiently) right before their eyes. The salad is always items are always fresh, and when I eat their grilled Chicken, I do believe they prepare it fresh on the premises everyday. It's very hard to make Caesar Salad worth raving about, but for some reason, I always walk out of my way to get mine at Chop't.

    Two Thumbs Up

Chop't is consistently excellent. They use very fresh ingredients! If you are ordering in - make sure you give yourself at least an hour. If you take out expect long lines...but it's worth it!

    Good food, bad value

The food is pretty good, though I've had some salads where the spinach was a little sandy. Dressings are great, but some have names like "Rocket Fuel," and no explanation of what type of dressing it is (nor do the salad-makers seem to know or care). The soup I had (white bean) was sub-par. The line actually moves quite fast, and they do their best to accommodate everyone. It is very expensive for the amount of each topping they put in, and I have taken to asking for less lettuce so the proportion of lettuce-topping is a little more reasonable. I mean, a $10 salad may be expected in a nicer, sit-down restaurant with a great atmosphere, but not in a bustling, crowded and cramped one that is Chop't. My boyfriend loves the place, however, and swears by the Gotham sandwhich.

    Pick up!

The best solution to their terrible delivery, crowded eating area and long lines... place an order for pick up. The ingredients are fresh-not the cheapest salad in town but a good value.
