    Buffet cannot be beat

Their lunch buffet is simply superb. Best selection I have ever seen and everything is executed perfectly. Their chicken tandoori, which I normally bypass, was absolutely delicious. I went back for seconds. Loved the masala dosai they brought to the table. Delish!

    Good idea but the execution...

Based on the great reviews I had gone for the lunch buffet on Dec 5th. The restaurant offers both north Indian as well as south Indian dishes are which quite unique. The South Indian dishes esp the Dosa ( Crepes) were delicious, but the north India dishes very below average. Also, the service took 10 minutes to refill couple of items on the buffet table. It was exxpensive given the quality and the limeted variety of entres.

    Perfect evening

The wait staff was efficient and friendly but not overbearing, and very helpful in explaining the menu. The food was fantastic...wonderful combinations of flavors and textures. Nohing was overpowering. Generous portions. Couldn't wait to eat the leftovers the next day. I'm now spoiled...cannot imagine eating at another Indian restaurant!

best indian food in the city

Been to all of them - none better. Very comfortable atmosphere; solid, unpretentious service, extraordinarily good food - spciy, but not in a way that presents varied tastes and great textures.

I honestly think that this restaurant is a little too overrated, the food is like any other indian restaurant, if not too oily and super spicy, the prices are quite expensive, the service needs grace. I felt mislead by a good review on it. I would'nt recommend it to anyone.

$ for $, best eating in NYC

My wife and I have dined at Chola 4 times in the past several months. The food is simply outstanding. Indian cuisine is incredibly underrated and stereotyped. The variety, creativity, and preparation at Chola set it apart not just from other Indian restaurants but from virtually all other restaurants. The vegetarian paneer curry is awesome, as is the pasanda. Portions are extremely generous. Our only reservations about the place relate to service, which is rather slapdash, and noise level, which can get out of hand on a busy night. But be tolerant of those shortcomings in order to enjoy the culinary experience.

    Average All Around

I can't understand all the glowing reviews of Chola. The ambience is ok, service amateurish and the food decent at best. There are better Indian joints on the same street.
